Okay. Well, it's hard to believe, but it's been another wonderful, hopefully fun and interesting uh and helpful uh conference. I hope you had a lot of fun. Um it's been honestly just so amazing to have conversations with so many of you, to walk the hallways and learn about what you're learning, learn about who you're communicating with and who you're connecting with, um and all the cool things you guys are hacking on. So, um, honestly, it's just it's a community, right? It takes partners, um, it takes organizations, and it takes all of us working together, right? To do the things that we love, to do the things that we care about, um, and to have the
support of those that support us. So, um, again, we couldn't do this without our incredible sponsors. I'm sure you're familiar with many of these organizations. these these sponsors are why we can have these wonderful events um and have uh this venue, right, and have just all the incredible opportunities that we have to do the cool things that we want to do. So, big round of applause for our sponsors one more time, PLEASE.
All right. So, um I mentioned before, but if you haven't already, please join our Discord. Um, you can follow us on LinkedIn, on X, um, on a few other places, but, uh, the best place to get a hold of us is Discord. If you haven't already, please find us there. Stay up todate on events, what's going on, volunteer opportunities. Uh, we'd love to have you join the community. Again, I think the idea behind Besides Right is we want to be more than just a conference. We want to be a community, and that takes communication and a place together. So, please join us if you haven't already. All right. So, hopefully you made some great connections. I think I saw a lot
of that. Um, hopefully you felt a part of the community or I should I should say be part of the community that we're driving and maybe even found some wonderful career opportunities. I think some of you did. Um, so again, thanks to our sponsors. We have a wonderful spread here of prizes, which is why I know you're uh sticking around, which is great. We're glad you did. Um, you know, again, thanks to Digert, Scanner, Delete Me, Darkwolf, Cyberbase, Strike 48, Secure Layer 7, Sumo Logic, uh, Gamaxon, Snow Fencive, Invoke Set, Grenpoint Security, Xmission, Teleport, Ultrava, Utah Saint. Um, they really allowed us to provide these wonderful prizes and kind of make it fun. Um, so our rules were that you
needed to be here present at 4:00, which is already now, um, today in order to get the prize. And we have multiple winners, of course. So, first we're going to do our CTF winners. These are the people that participated in um uh our our competitive CTF. We're going to have five individual winners. Uh each one of them will come up uh we'll start at uh number one and then go down to number five um picking prizes like that and then we'll have a team award, right? So, the the team that plays first will also get to pick or I should say have a prize for them. So, let's talk about our CTF winners. Uh, number one, first place
is the good, the bad, and the ugly. Aukaro. Come on up.
Get the first pick of the prizes.
This one has
>> I think it's the 8 gig gigabyte version, which is these days worth gold, right? We all know how easy it is to get a hold of RAM these days. All right, Aukaro, thank you. Well done. All right, second place and second pick at the prizes. We got is it insensient Bger,
COME ON DOWN.
A WALK of fame. What is he gonna pick?
We also got I fix it kits over here. >> Faraday cage radio blocking >> backpacks.
All right, Brager, thank you. Nice work. >> Okay, and then we've got third place. Is it Plague? Who's Plague? All right, come on down. WOO.
YEAH, maybe we had too many choices this year. >> Yep. All right. Yeah, it's the paper zero with the Wi-Fi board, which is what you want, right? All right. Fourth case, we've got briefcase Bros or memory. >> ALL RIGHT.
I KNOW that guy.
>> That's lockpick from defensive. >> Okay.
>> Power bank. >> I mean $100 gift card. Okay. >> ALL RIGHT. Thank you, Strike 48. All right. And then the final winner from the individual CTF competition is School of Hard Knocks or Knockout.
Nice work.
I know. We had a good spread this year. >> All right, nice work. Okay, so now we have the CTF team competition. In third place was team no mistakes. Round of applause for team No Mistakes. That was Jagger. Is it Lisa is late? And Donga, nice work. Second place was Axon. So that's Axon and Bloofy Boy. Nice work. And then first place we have the Granite Specialist Team or M John MJ Monson MJ Monson Agent Fox and Over Grown Asian. Come on down. NICE WORK. UH >> OH. Granite specialist team, are you here? >> You don't want your $50 Amazon gift cards? Are you sure? >> All right. Uh once going twice. Okay. Uh team Axon, come on down.
>> Give it to third place. >> Team Axon. No, >> that's me. >> Bryson third. >> Okay. >> Okay. Thank you. All right. So, uh, how about no mistakes? Third place. You guys here? >> Come on down.
>> Hey, nice work. Is there three of you? >> He loves the other guy. >> Okay. Well, you're He's lucky he has you guys because I'm going to pick up his gift card. Nice work, GUYS. All right, that's so that's too much fun. Thanks everyone for that. Okay, so now we're going to pull uh one name from the raffle bag, right, to pick a prize and then if we have um additional prizes left over after the other contest, we'll just we'll pick some more. So, I'm going to try and do this as randomly as I can. I promise I did not tell anybody to freeze any papers or bend any corners, so I couldn't pick favorites.
So, we'll just do this as best I can here. All right. How about is Chris Bel uh Bel uh Balmano, >> come on down. Nice work.
First pick of the prize board.
>> Yeah. Or this one too. It's huge. >> Legos. >> I know. My grandson. >> Yeah. There we go. That's a good grandpa. There we go. Jeez. He's going to be a hero grandpa pretty soon, isn't he? All right. We'll come back to that in a bit if we still have some prizes left over. So, um, one thing, too, is we wanted to recognize that, you know, not everyone gets the opportunity to, you know, compete in the CTF, right? Um, or maybe they didn't get a chance to visit all of our sponsors, but they were here and they made an effort to be here, um, and to learn and to grow. And so we wanted we picked three random people
that uh were were registered and showed up today. We want to recognize them as well for their effort. Um so Kimberly Duke, are you there? Kimberly, not anymore. How about Connor? Connor Dick? No. How about Preston? No. >> Preston. All right. So maybe just more raffles later. >> Keep doing raffles. All right. Well, these people are awesome. You made it. We love you. We'll see you next year. Okay. Um, one of our other contests as well was a social media contest, right? We want you guys to spread the word about your good experiences here at Bsides. Um, I hear all the time when I talk to people and I mention I volunteer at Bides, they don't know what it is.
They haven't heard of it. Um, they don't know if it's for them, right? Right. So when you go and you share um either in your personal circles or with people at work, in your neighborhood or on social media what this is, what it does, and why you enjoy it, it really helps us and helps the community a lot. So huge shout out to all those people who shared on X and on LinkedIn. We're so thankful. Uh but we picked one person who we thought had a great social media post that explained why they love Bides and why Bides is so great. Um and that is Brandon Woodruff. Are you there, Brandon? Oh man, Brandon's not here.
>> Okay, it's hard to say. I guess that's more raffle prizes down the road. Um, all right. Also, we were looking for MVPs. So, what's a besides MVP? We feel besides MVPs are people who exemplify the attributes that we look for in our community members, right? These are people who are going above and beyond to enhance the experience of the conference for themselves and for others and who are just friendly, right? and want to help and want to help uh build our community. And we recognized two people today uh who we want to recognize and reward with a prize for being excellent community members at today's conference. The first one being Kyle Smith. Kyle, are you out there? Come on down. Oh,
prize number two.
>> I still know that guy. >> They still know me. Did you know? >> Oh man, Legos are cool. >> They are cool. >> Yeah. >> Thank you, Kyle. Another member of the community we want to recognize, someone who um was going around and just learning and exemplified attributes, right, of wanting to grow the community is Sarah. Sarah Fishbuck, are you there? Come on down.
Oh yes, nice. Nice work. Thank you for being awesome today. We appreciate it. Okay, something a little new, a little different. Um that was a suggestion from some of the attendees today was to recognize the best booth, the best sponsor booth at today's conference. Uh and I heard from a few people um and I went there myself and they really exemplified energy and a willingness to help and serve our community not just today at this conference but throughout the year. So we wanted to recognize Sumo Logic as being today's exemplary sponsor. Thank you Sumo Logic. Nice work. Thank you FOR BEING HERE. OKAY. UH, LET'S SEE. Before we get to that, I guess we have time to pull a few
more >> raffles. >> Raffles. All right. Margie's the boss. She said it's okay. Here we go. Okay. How about ah, incarn. Nice work. ALL
RIGHT, LET'S KEEP GOING. How about Jason Martinez? Jason, are you there? >> Going once. Jason, going twice. Okay, let's go again. >> Okay, now talk about a late submission. Yeah. Okay, I'm going have to mix this one up a little bit.
All right. Okay. How about uh Jeff George? Jeff, come on down.
I I I promise I did not I know, Jeff. I promise this is not I did not do this. We did not plan this.
All right. How about is it uh Miko Merritt? >> Merryill. Sorry, I can't read. My bad. MERRYILL. MERRITT. SORRY. MERRITT. All right. Maybe >> two more. >> How about Jennifer Thomas? Jennifer, are you there?
>> And then let's do one more. Uh Chris Nelson. Chris, come on down.
You also got a lockpicking kit there, There's no offensive. That's pretty cool. >> Yeah, >> that's pretty cool.
>> Oh, yeah. RFID blocking bags. Yeah. >> Got some tool kits, power bank. >> Oh, yeah. Those are travel routers. Those are pretty cool. Configure the travel router with your favorite VPN and you're set
>> power bank.
>> All right. Well, all right. So, a few more things everyone. We wanted to remind everyone that this is not the end, right, of the fund. Um, both uh Bsides and Saint Con and 801 Labs have many events going on throughout the year. Our next event for Bsides is coming up in Logan, so up in Cash Valley in September on September 18th. We encourage you to come and hang out with us there. We also have Saint Con uh from our wonderful friends at St.Con happening in October. Uh, and then in December, we're also going to have BSI Red Rocks in southern Utah in, uh, Cedar City most likely. And a new addition, um, we just heard from our friends at
801 Labs in downtown Salt Lake. There is a hacker camp going on in Salem in May of 2026. You can find more information at hackercamp.org. Okay, so definitely encourage you to take a look at those. The fun doesn't end. Keep your skills sharp. Keep growing the community. Um, and let us know how we can support you. Uh we want to remind you of the wonderful people um that helped create and make this possible. Anthony, Tyler, Ivonne, and Bryce. Uh these are incredible members and pillars of our community that really help us to continue learning and growing. And again, without them, none of this would be possible. Uh quick round of applause for them, PLEASE.
And I know she's not going to like this, but I had to throw this in there. Um, you know, Margie and the entire working group, they do incredible work. Honestly, we couldn't do this without uh people like Margie, she's always going to be our the working group's MVP. Um, if you met her or saw her at the reg desk, she makes this possible. She's the glue of this group. She's one of the reasons we can do this. One big round of applause for her. PLEASE.
OKAY, I think that's the end of the con. After the conference, we are having a B uh Utah cyber security meeting, board meeting here um after a few minutes. Uh if you want to come and join join Utah Cyber Cyber Security society, help us plan besides events and help grow our community, you're welcome to. But if not, thank you so much for joining us. Thank you for having fun. We'll see you next time.
