About this talk
In this talk I will discuss two pieces of recent research on the security of digital ICs. In one, I will demonstrate a surprisingly effective attack on what has been claimed to be an effective technique for camouflaging digital ICs. The technique is marketed commercially, and research on it has won an award at one the top conferences in security. In the other piece of work, I will be more constructive, and will present a defense mechanism based on split-manufacturing. The main contribution here is a clear enunciation of a notion of security, and the trade-offs involved in achieving it.
