today was all about cybersecurity at Augusta University Brookes honor is on your side with how the school is working to help students prepare for the quickly growing field well Lindsey when we think of growth in cyber many times we may be thinking of growth at Fort Gordon and an Augusta but with Augusta University's new master's program in cybersecurity they say they're equipping students with skills to continue that growth at first glance it might seem like another conference you can't walk five feet without tripping over somebody who's in the information security field but for mark Baggett it's a chance to share ideas and attract more businesses to an already growing field cyber he's one of the

organizers of the b-sides conference and for many years this is a very lonely place to be a hacker that is until fort gordon announced it would be the new home of the US Army Cyber Command since then it's brought more than 1,000 jobs to the region it would not have ever imagined that we would have this kind of this kind of turnout for a security event here the conference started back in 2012 with only 100 people this was before everybody got excited about cyber security and every year since those numbers keep growing but that growth spans even further the concept was bring industry here bring other people here see what's what's actually here to try

and attract companies to come Joanne Sexton is the director of the cyber Institute at Augusta University this year there's already 150 IT students getting cyber security experience students like Tori line berry and I was really drawn to the cyber security program and I heard more about how the cyber Institute was starting and how it was growing she started the program in January I went from knowing basically nothing to knowing so much as Augusta University launches its first master's program in cyber security they say they're equipping more students like Tori to stay I definitely do want to stay local and I do want to work in cyber security our Institute was just about over a month ago and this week the school is

hosting a ribbon-cutting for both first look at the cyber Institute's facility
