Opening Ceremony

thank you for coming to uh bsides Boulder uh 2022 uh we're super excited to have everybody here um I have just some opening things and I don't know if it's like the Acoustics in this room but now maybe oh now the mic is on so I'll just be super loud um uh let's see let's let's get started so today the schedule is here you can see all of the things there's also on the website uh notice that I am talking from maybe for 15 minutes we'll see how long this goes um and then we'll have uh Greg there may or may not be a shift in uh in the scheduling um depending but you know we

like to keep it interesting anyway uh lunch uh is after the 11:30 upstairs um if you've not been upstairs uh there are still some snacks and some drinks and stuff like that up there so um please feel free to grab those there are also some uh some old swag from last year and the year before um there is a um a donation uh PayPal link up there as well if you would like to donate to uh silicon flat irons who I am going to totally butcher this they uh work out of this building and our law and security and you know that you know it's a great organization uh and they are the ones who kind of

allowed us to use this space so it's a nice space right love it uh let's see um so that's the other thing you can if you really want you can take a picture of this or it's also on your badge so don't worry about this uh exits bathrooms and elevators um the exits are clearly marked both sides there are none down the aisle just on the sides in the backs if there's an issue please follow those um bathrooms are down this Hall if you are needing to use the restroom there's some on uh the first floor second floor uh there are uh elevators down by the bathrooms you probably saw the elevators uh because we

are in a kind of a weird parking lot uh for this space so um sorry about that we'll look at seeing if we can get the other parking lot next time um but it gives us extra steps and wakes us up in the morning so woohoo uh back backs bathrooms yes great we have just two rules um really I mean kind of uh first don't be an ass um we kind of you know this is really you know a good uh tight-knit community so we want to help build that um so you know this is also stolen from other places so great uh and also no outside food or drink except bottled water in this room please

um I had to make a pinky promise to uh to Jamie saying that I will not allow any uh sodas or chips or anything in this room so please don't I don't know what happens when you break a pinky promised you have to like break I don't know I don't know I'll I'll figure that out please let's not figure out what that means uh let's see if there are any issues you can find me like um or anybody with a orange we didn't have like different color shirts but you know orange tag um will be able to help you out uh if there are any questions or issues uh throughout the day um hopefully there

different attempts for certification so those are also being given away um next time I will say which one I'm giving away first always learning always learning what do we got um wow I'm going a little faster than expected but uh today is meant um really to be learning and for all of you guys uh to to um have a good time learn uh and I find the the best way to learn um both ways you know for the speakers and for you know attendees is to ask question so please you know um the speakers may have a set question time uh hopefully they'll say oh we'll have questions at the end but uh please you

know have some questions and and think about those um so that you're uh doing the best learning you can today um and we really appreciate all of you coming out um and being with us today so uh that may that is the last of my of my um I'm gonna go oh yeah those are the last of my slides so I'm going to do this are you ready okay cool we're going to start a little early sorry uh but I um Greg is a uh principal Cloud security researcher with la lace work labs uh where he focuses on large-scale data science and threat research intending to help secure customers Cloud environments uh fost has led the

research team built and ran a Global Security operations program consulted in red teaming and worked as um as security analyst for federal government in previous roles and um is all around a great person in the community I added that um uh in his free time he spends time with his wife two children and is an avid Runner and swimmer so please welcome the keynote today Greg Foss [Applause]
