[Music] Hey, hey everyone. Um, we're just going to do a quick uh closing. Uh, thanks uh for everybody for staying uh to the end of our conference. I think we had a great first bout Joeberg. Um, I think we had a few snags, but yeah, great conference. So, as the person kind of helping with with the AV stuff, um we didn't have any issues today, but of course I come on the stage and then my Mac is like, "No, I'm not connecting to the screen here." But in any case, uh let's start off with the uh CTF. So, we had uh 45 participants, 49 challenges, over a thousand flags submitted, and the final challenge was solved on the last day

with less than an hour remaining. So uh jumping into the prizes. So the wooden spoon or the mentor prize goes to Lord Nats or Prat Pratesesh. If you can maybe just come to the stage so uh we can take a photo please. [Applause]

And then in third place we have a three up king. Are they? >> Yes. [Applause] [Music]

>> Cool. And then in second place we have Trojan Tamer. [Applause]

And then in first place we have uh Damon Slayer. [Applause]

Cool. And then that's just a view of the scores over time. Uh so kind of moving into the closing. Um you know there's been over a thousand B science events. We were very close to actually being the thousandth B science event but then there was another one that was actually moved. So unfortunately we lost that accolade but I think it's a massive community achievement where we actually have over a thousand bite events that has taken place since the bite uh you know the inception of bite in 2009. Um and it's really great to see the kind of community coming together for this. Uh we also want to say thank a big thank you to our speakers um for all of their

amazing talks today. Maybe we can give them a round of applause. [Applause] And then thanks also to our volunteers. I think us organizers uh we would be dead without our volunteers. So thank you to all of them for all of their work. [Applause] And then I want to thank all of our sponsors and a special mention to Deote. So our original platinum sponsor actually decided to withdraw at the end of April which is very close to uh the event. So there was actually a very good chance that Bides wasn't actually going to happen. Um but then when we spoke to Deote we kind of clicked immediately and I think things kind of went from there.

So we want to say a very big thank you to Flip Sam Remola and Linda and the rest of the Deote team uh for stepping up to take our big spot. [Applause] Then uh just to thank the rest of our sponsors, we have Elastic and Trend Micro as our gold sponsors. For our silver sponsors, we have Telspace, uh Things Canary Snow Mobius MWR Enclose, Docivore, and KM Sec. And for our bronze sponsors, we have Noble, PR Venty, and Orange Cyber Defense, who was also our coffee sponsor. And then our bag sponsor uh was Rapid 7. As Michael said in this morning, uh we cannot do this conference without our sponsors. We are a nonprofit event. So all of the

money that we receive from sponsorship kind of goes into the event. And also the ticket prices of this event are substantially lower than what you would typically see elsewhere. And that's thanks to the uh the sponsors that make uh that possible. Then just some general thank yous. We want to say thank you uh to Jack and the rest of the team from Bides Global who helped us uh kind of run the very first Bides. And then I would like to thank uh our organizing team. So Roberto, Michael, Ivan, and Dane. Uh specifically, Roberto, we call him the money man because uh he get got a lot of our sponsors um especially, you know, our platinum sponsor as well as

helping out and running uh the all of the vaults. Uh thanks to Michael for helping out with the logistics and many other things. Ivan for running the CTF and also getting a lot of students to uh this conference. We actually had substantially more students than we typically get at other Bites events for example Bites Cape Town and then Dane for uh running the uh lockpicking um session that was uh outside. Um, with regards to feedback, uh, we will be sending out an email tomorrow or a Monday with a link to a Google form. Please complete that. Uh, this is the first event that we've had and we really appreciate your feedback so that we can

make, uh, next year a lot better. And to add a little bit of incentive, um, we are going to ask for speaker feedback. So, the best speaker will receive a 2 and a half thousand rand gift card. the um person who can uh has an idea of how we can improve bides will get another gift card and then we will choose a random person who has completed um that feedback form to get the other gift card and these gift cards can be used across a number of different services as shown this morning. So whether you want to do it for Wiz or Steam or on uh the app store or Google Play um you can use

those vouchers as you uh would like to. Then we really want to put out a call for those of you that are not active uh in our cyber security community. Uh please get involved. Um if you are not a member of hacks health uh please consider joining. So hacksalth is a discord where there's a whole bunch of channels um for different topics in cyber security. Um the easiest way to go uh to join is to go to hacksalth.affrica and then there's a little um uh discord invite that you can uh use to join the discord. um uh server. Uh then for those of you uh you know in Joberg we have hex coffee on the last Monday of every month

at 7 p.m. at Milk Bar in Parkmore. So um we generally share uh different things uh uh that that are of interest. Um you can get more information on that uh on the Hex Coffee chat channel on Hackalth or by looking up Hex Coffee on Meetup. and then I'll hand over to Charles uh just to chat about Bites Cape Town. >> Yes,

>> Jared. On behalf of the organizers, everyone here, the sponsors, we want to say thank you to you for the hours upon hours and the effort you've put in to make this a reality. The first bides for Johannesburg. It's lovely to be here. So many people have just praised the fact that they don't have a long travel home from Cape Town. So yeah, I'd like everyone to please give Jared a round of applause for making this a reality. Congrats. Congrats. [Applause] >> Cool. Thanks, Roberto. And uh yeah, we'll hand over to Charles now. >> Hi. Hello. Yeah. Hi everyone. Uh I'm Charles Roth. I'm the uh current chairman of uh Besides Cape Town. Uh so

this year uh we are doing the main event on 7 December. Uh we look to change the dates and everyone said we're always the first weekend in December. So that's us. We'll be hosting workshops again on uh the 6th. Uh we'll see how that works out. Early bird ticket sales went up I think about 20 minutes ago. So get yours. We have 50 tickets. Um we're going to the same venue. We're going to try a bunch of new things. Uh we're going to push the uh lockpicking everything else uh quite quite a lot more this year. Um and I think that's pretty much it from us. We will do the CFP for Megalodon can just finish it. Uh

it'll be going up in the next week. Uh and then we'll be releasing the rest of the tickets in the next uh two weeks. But uh check it out. Uh we were the first and uh I just want to say last thing, well done to Besides Joberg. It's been awesome to see a lot of new faces here and uh old faces at 10 besides Cape Town. I think you guys did a phenomenal job and uh set a different bar. So uh I'm looking forward to uh upping you guys on that. But well done and uh we'll see you in December. Thanks. Hold on. And then to close off uh we do have an afterparty. Please uh don't rush home.

Please have uh we have soft drinks and beer and there will be a pizza as well. So um please help yourself in the restaurant area. Um and then you know network uh meet some people that you haven't met before um you know kind of grow and connect with people and then hopefully uh we'll see you guys at Bites Cape Town and if not at one of our community events. So uh yeah thank you everybody uh for coming. [Applause]
