hello everyone do that got here that was good so welcome to bsid Lancer um anybody with a hat on is a speaker the people that are here are the team that bring this together so if you have a problem that's a minor problem find a volunteer if you have a problem that's a major problem find one of these people but we're not expecting any major problems is that to discourage them yes okay thank you so much to our wonderful sponsors without sponsors this can't happen um they are all here go and talk to the vendors they pay for today they pay for the food they pay for their drinks later be nice to them please who else this is your map this is
all on the website but you're now in the thund stage the 30 minute talks are in here the other lecture theater is lightning and at the back you've got workshops you've got an interactive village where there's lockpicking there's a book signing um the sticker stores in there and then you've also got the careers village with talks and things in there okay if it is Ramadan so if anyone is fasting there is a prayer room this is also on the website site um it's not in this building but there's two prayer rooms on site w we are raising money today through the sticker store for bowl and charity which is one that Holly Works in volunteers full I can talk
about it if you want me to yeah you want to tell us what that is please okay so the charity that we've chosen this year is bowl and pen and Martin Rescue Team uh full disclosure I'm a volunteer on that team so one of the things that we wanted to do as a c community event is pick a charity that we thought was relevant so rather than some distant or some national level charity we wanted something that was effectively Lancer best so B and pen and Mountain Rescue Team is the local Rescue Team the area that they cover is absolutely huge it's 860 square miles so it's just north just north of Lancaster in the carth area
right down to the south of the area down in skelmersdale if anyone is unfortunate enough to know that area it is there we go you might think Mountain Rescue I don't go on mountains how is is relevant to me the way to think about it really is the Mountain Rescue Team covers anything that a land ambulance cannot get to you don't need to be very far out into the country for a Mountain Rescue Team to be required and it isn't all about things like people going out in the outdoors unprepared and things like that accidents happen everything from people tripping over their own dogs to uh you know a lower leg injury can be enough to uh to ruin your dirt and you
need this kind of thing and people don't realize that the mountain rescue teams are Charities they receive no direct Government funding they are funded entirely from from the community and local businesses cost about £35,000 a year for the team to operate to run the Frontline Land Rovers these uh lied Vehicles you can see here training for the team all of the medical equipment that we required that kind of thing so that is the team that is the reason that we picked them and uh yeah if you would like to donate to the team just scan the QR code at take to the just giving page if you do donate through justgiving it doesn't tell the team where that came
from we just received the funding so if you would like to it would be nice to give bsides a shout out just say saw you at bsides or you know thanks for besid or something like that so that we know where that came from and yeah thank you for listening to to my little 30 seconds on why I think you should care about MRT okay so our Afterparty later is somewhere else it's a different building it's about 10 minute walk everybody's welcome we have some things going on if you want to win yourself a flat cap you need to be involved in the quiz which is going to be fun uh We've also got a
fireside chat with Chris Roberts he's not here in person but it's going to be cool and we've got cyber house party cyber house party are raising money later for nspcc but I'm sure they'll talk to you about that later as well um and then he doesn't know I'm going to do this Mike has a big birthday at the weekend so we want to say happy birthday tonight
can we sing you happy birthday happy birthday to you happy birthday to you happy birthday dear going to
kill thank you um so for the day there is a code of conduct basically vehicle own up don't make anyone feel uncomfortable we have got Security on site as well everybody needs to wear your lanyards if you go outside you come back in you need your lanyard in else you're not going in um there's reasons for that but just make sure you wear your lanyard please behave photos photos sorry yeah anyone with a red lanyard cannot be photographed so if you don't want to be photographed pick up a red lanyard be really mindful of the photos that you're sharing online um please don't put a photograph of anyone with a red lanyard there's cameras in the room that are filming the
talk so when you're coming in just be mindful of the cameras I don't really need to dock just be mindful of that for the filming there's a really really good schedule it's going to be really hard to watch all the talks but thanks to the amazing Cooper who isn't in the room and all of our av team everything will be filmed and it'll be on YouTube within a period of time um anything else there's no scheduled fire drill Gabby will tell us we go fire just
I let's get out the building away from the fire yeah um anything else that I've forgotten have a good day have a good day have a good day well have
