hey everyone I am in The Villages tell me who you are and what you're doing here in The Villages hi I'm Brandy Jackson and I am the CEO of scout liar I'm also the educational research arm of amrock Fab Lab and we're running the amrock Fab Lab Village do you want to know a little bit about what we're doing here like the projects we got going on yes please awesome so last year we launched a project called cyber smart cities with the Office of Naval Research and stem and what our project was being Come a Little Closer is we were teaching students how to go from a microprocessor this is a microbit to learn how sensors

all work together how they integrate and then how to prototype Solutions so they Design This and they stick it in to a breakout board this gets attached to a breadboard now you can add wires and you can start creating Solutions but that was just the start of it then we worked with educational researchers from all over the United States literally all over showing diverse Equitable inclusive people that are doing great work to keep the world safe because secure by Design starts at the chip process so once our students understand chips then we help them prototype problems want to see some of the problems we're solving please let's see these problems okay so first we live

in Florida right yes so Florida has a really big problem with red tide and if we've got red tide we can't get people coming in so step number one let's take some pretty interesting pretty simple Technologies and create an ROV that can come out into the water and test chemically what's going on interesting we also have a problem with flooding right yes so with the same system how can we create a system that can clean drain pipes and put water like after a flood so we're not backing up into our city well it's actually prettyy easy because if you have a water sensor this gets wet and it's wet for too long it will open the

levy and then this system will scoop out anything like any trash or debris that's come through oh wow right it's really simple it's just Motors and sensors working together problem solved right so what this project is is it's a cyber Smart City what are all the problems that can end up with problems in your air in your land in your water that can be solved through mechanical engineering electrical engineering control systems and computer systems and then we're at bsides all the things you build it's great that you did that but besides just building it you have to protect it so we're showing our students how cyber security is secure by design it starts at the beginning all the the way through

to the end and in iot we need to all know how to do that and learn how to work together to make the world a better place because if not it's innovator diet that's what we're doing thanks so much Randy we'll talk to you soon
