Uh I hope you're having a good time in today's uh VIA security conference 2024 edition. A quick introduction about yourself. Hey Ram, good evening. My name is Shukumad Akna Morti. I work for MNC as a head of support services plus I'm doing my AI security researcher. Awesome. Awesome. Now that you brought uh the topic of AI research as a active researcher, what are your thoughts on Gen AI its adoption use cases in enhancing cyber defense? Well, of course, I think that is one of the highly evolving field. I think we should use it for both way actually when I say both way. One is use JA for simulation creation. What attack simulation creation plus real world thing you can
able to train your employees how the real level attacks happens. then you can to learn then also use the gen to create a defense mechanism. So both the way going to work actually one is you know learn another one is make a difference mechanism and of course these days the attack surfaces are very different right the gen enabled attacks are coming in and very difficult to you know detect and do it out if you know how the A enabled attacks are coming it's easy for us to do the you know the defense mechanism good good uh now let's uh switch gears to the top three uh you know uh threats or risks uh in in
today's cyber threat landscape any list you have yeah of course um as I told you before right there are three when I talk about three top three one number one is your surface attack surface is expanding ever expanding it is because of the lot of connected devices that's the one second thing is attacks are getting smarter because a is not only for you defense mechanism right even you know attackers are using very very effectively to manage or create a sophisticated act. So you should you should have the knowledge about you know those kind of things. So another one is um collaboration is a key. Suppose someone knows exactly what happened in other location they need to share on the
you know across the security division or the other the friend circle they can able to know that they can able to collaborate well this security is all about you know you know reactive it is all about proactive these days actually. Good. Uh now that uh you know you've been a seasoned uh security uh researcher and a practitioner uh any uh thoughts on ransomware and how it has evolved and how what best can be done to mitigate uh the threat? Okay, awareness is the key here, right? You know the ransomware all comes through predominantly on your fishing attacks because still we know that you know fishing attack is the reason but still lot many of them keep doing and clicking
it actually. How do we make an organization to be aware and we should be a larger part of it? How we can so education is the key here? It is right. One is awareness. How you create awareness creating proper education and make some some kind of you know compulsory training program to educate them so that they will be aware such kind of males they should avoid and you know providing some other information personal detail and they should not do it and patch up properly all the time. Patching up is very very key here. It is otherwise easily whatever you do always hacker find the root to get into your system to avoid this these are things
your awareness and training properly cue to the employee and patch up the system timely manner and backup and of course back up with the strategy right otherwise your live data will go away. Yeah. Yeah. Good. Uh finally want to check with you how do you feel about today's uh conference proceedings your key learnings or takeaways? Yeah absolutely fantastic. I think this is my first time I'm coming besides Bangalore. last year I could not able to come but I found it you know all young and matured crowd it's a mix of both more of there are a lot of session in you know related to uh not only defense side even offensive security side also it is a mix
so I found it very good and a lot of senior leaders I I found I met them I connected with them it's really good it's a really a fantastic event to be thank you Shiva for sharing your views and thoughts and uh happy to host Thank you, Ram. Thank you so much. God bless you all.
