Ham Radio Village BSides Tampa 2024

hey everyone I'm here in the Villages could you tell us your name and a little bit about what brought you to bides sure my name's uh Pat Conley call sign is AA I'm a ham radio operator from uh St Petersburg and uh I've always been into computer security I came as an attendee a few years ago and uh my friend Tom here uh talked me into uh doing the ham radio Village and I've been doing that last two years here awesome thank you so much for having us what is a ham radio uh ham radio is a amateur radio that's where there's certain frequencies that you're allowed to use there's a licensing to be able to transmit on it

anyone's allowed to listen but uh to transmit you need a license so uh frequencies are uh plenty of them are available and there's uh plenty you can do with it my personal interest is in CW which is Morse code and uh I like to uh I like to do that it took a long time to learn it but once you learn it it's very satisfying awesome thanks so much
