BSidesMCR 2018: Opening Remarks (T2)

good morning welcome to BCI's Manchester 2018 come on you can do better than that yep you're all up the insights last night when you who stayed up till 1:00 a.m. last night 2:00 a.m. 3:00 a.m. right then challenge accepted let's see how far you get tonight so welcome to Manchester an awesome place a lot of history here with regards to IT you'll know Alan Turing I don't know much about him to be honest someone else put this slide deck together so yeah however what I do need to do is thank our sponsors because without them this would never happen actually I'm surprised they say it's actually happening because we've got to December January and we're

thinking we're not going to put this on because we're broke but thankfully we had some awesome sponsors stand up to the plate this year I want to welcome a to e first-time sponsors of besides Manchester NCC group of sponsors for the last five years and then so karma who are back again as platinum sponsors and then also our gold sponsors go past all of their stands these swag giveaways competitions etc happening all day but the most important thing is our PI sponsor I think have a look in your programs because you need to get wristband for tonight if you want to go to the after-party which is a footage again yep there we go so you have to go

see them to get your pass a little bit about logistics so if you ordered a specialist lunch some sort of allergy etc you'll get a plate with your name on it everyone else you have to fight for your food the food is going to be round the back by the cafeteria area it's going to be called and teas and coffees throughout the day well it's funny to say remember yeah I only got these slides back half an hour ago yeah and I am Alive I didn't die last year thanks to these people this is your writing team who without this this event wouldn't happen so say hi to any of us yeah no fire drills fire exits

they're all going to be labeled and we'd really like to crowdsource the keeping of these rooms tidy because the last four years we it's our jobs to go around and clean up and we want to go to the party as well so be really awesome if you've got any rubbish just stick it in the bin that'd be great yeah we're always looking for volunteers who come and talk to us that'd be great but definitely visit our sponsors because they pay for this and actually I think we might start a lot bit early so what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna hand us over to to Joe Gardner who's going to talk about tracking binary trees and and
