Deepak uh happy to have you here in security besides conference 2024 edition. Uh quickly I want you to introduce uh and pick your brain on certain aspects of cyber security. Your views and thoughts over to you. Absolutely Dr. Ram. Uh my name is Deepak. Uh I work as a head of security for a UK retail organization and um and this is me uh supporting the community as well being part of besides Bangalore. Awesome. Thanks for uh being here. Um let me start with um um you know knowing your views and uh thoughts on the evolving cyber threats scape today. I think on the cyber threat landscape it's constantly changing and increasing. Uh every beaches multiply uh problems for
the organization. Uh it's no more a single organization battle. Uh it's like a joint community joint conversation uh joint uh body of industries you know meeting together and uh doing that. Otherwise there are companies who are going to be left out and then they're going to be significantly impacted due to and for example you know the evolution of what we saw on genai and other technologies they're going to be you know having a side effect on cyber as well as an example. Awesome. So I think uh what you're driving at is the uh pace of change in technology. Emergence of new technologies like genai adds to the fire and adds fuel to the fire. Also the cost of uh uh committing
a cyber crime is much much cheaper than cost of defense right that again is pretty scary. Now that you brought up the topic of Genai, I want to check with you whether you have implemented Genai for enhancing cyber security or you have some use cases. Absolutely. I think Genai is a thing which can be adapted in multiple places even to understand customer journeys. If you've got a customerf facing product, you can understand customer journeys to understand that you know is any journeys malicious or anything. So it's in the detection space right a lot of these advantages uh you know are there it's all about you know how much companies have got data about customers uh suppliers and everything
and using Gen AI to understand behaviors and uh you know non-behaviors non idealistic scenarios and using that as a signal to evolve it's it's a con continuously evolving situation of companies you know uh adapting these things and must adapt otherwise they would be left behind. Okay, good. And uh any top three things that you would uh recommend to improve cyber security? Yeah, so one of the thing I said is that you know it's no more a one company battle. Uh one company's breach can be another company's breach in any other day. So uh it's a society thing. It's it's governments and everybody else who needs to support uh that you know as as an industry as a consortium right they
need to battle this together. Second thing is the cyber is not like a boardroom discussion. It's a board meeting discussions, right? It needs to be accepted that there's nothing like 100% security. The moment you accept that there is 100% security, your parimeters are safe, I think you're probably making a big mistake, right? So that's accepting the fact that you know it's no more that thing is is one of the biggest um you know achievements which can uh which can enhance cyber security. Yeah, you're right. I would agree. uh no ses would ever uh give guarantees that we are 100% secure and of course cyber security is more of a business uh risk today more than technical it's
transcended beyond the technical uh risk uh long back and uh finally I would want to uh ask you what are your key takeaways from today's uh conference well I think uh every year the uh besides community or any general you know cyber security community right is very vibrant a lot lot of young talent are coming in and learning what's happening. They're also building career paths and everything as an organization as as a country. There are so many challenges. I think these are the communities which can help bridge talent and problems the organizations have got. Awesome. Awesome. Thank you Deepak for sharing your expertise and your thoughts. Happy to have you here. Thank you Mr.
