hey guys I'm here with Brandy one of our speakers hey Brandi could you introduce yourself hi [Music] hi level skills like cyber security awesome well I know you were a speaker is this your first year being a speaker it is our first year being a speaker at besides well what do you think compared to maybe other conferences did you like being a speaker at besides um so one of the things I think is really important about these sites is We Believe education doesn't change unless corporations universities and the teachers themselves work together to change initiatives so what was awesome about these sides is you had people from all of those sectors in the room people you could talk and
network with that you wouldn't necessarily see at an education conference or a DOD education conference or even a lot of stem conferences this is very purposeful and to get all the right people at the table to start talking about we've got to do a better job is really important so I thought presenting it besides was amazing awesome I'm really glad you were able to connect with some people that perhaps you wouldn't at other places and you just get to extend your reach so if other people are considering becoming a speaker do you have any sort of advice or why maybe they should yeah I think I think number one when you're gonna come to speak you need to have a mission
there needs to be a call to action it's not just talking about the problem because that's what everybody does came because we were soft launching a new product called cybersmart cities with the awesome Naval Research instead so when we came we were actively looking for people who wanted to be part of that story when you come to speak at an event you need to have a reason that you're there why do you want to speak you need to have a Target group that you are looking for and start before the program even goes start talking on LinkedIn reaching out to your network to get the right people in the room to have that conversation and then make sure that you
are networking because really the connections don't always happen right in the conference they happen in The Villages they happen in the spaces in front and then they happen in you know the after hours where you really get to talk to people so you absolutely want to do it you need to reach out early and even if you're not picked as one of the original speakers tell them you're willing to come in at a last minute because a lot of times people can't come and you can sneak right in and really get your mission driven home wow that's really awesome I would have never thought of that so cool well really appreciate you Brandi um we'll catch up
with you later
