Friday Closing Remarks [BSidesPDX 2024]

[Music] hi Malcolm Heath I'm one of the board members of bides PDX and also currently serve as the treasur I'm also one of the organizers of this crazy thing we just did and that we're going to do tomorrow so thanks very much for coming first day went great I hope yes right on yeah we got a whole another day tomorrow but things are going to be a little bit differently organized so I want to let you know about that we're going to have one talk track which is in here and we're going to have three workshops none of which are on the second floor all three of which are in the rooms that are currently known as

track two those rooms will be split into three that's where the workshops are uh closing marks will be a little bit earlier tomorrow 4 pm uh then let everybody get out of here and have a good time on Saturday night uh thank you very much to our sponsors we had a great turnout here hack one BPM securing Hardware Orca security eclips isaka I'm still not sure if I'm saying that right but no starch of course they've been supporting us for just forever um and I have a little treat for you in a second identity Technologies Issa all of these people but also all of you help us run this convention and break even every year and sometimes even

starch and of course thank you to all the people who do this uh crazy thing we've got our artists uh our CTF team uh how many people tried to play the CTF today was it good yeah all right great uh that was a huge effort on the part of that team uh and we're so happy to have a CTF again it's great uh we're really really happy to have electronic badges again so that was awesome uh and the AV crew Brian Team all of our volunteers all of our speakers the PSU staff especially has been outstanding today there was a bunch of stuff that went on that none of you saw that was kind of a

problem um with things sometimes things break whatever and they've been fantastic at helping us resolve all these issues so thank you very much PSU

and finally all of you um without you we we can't do this we do this for you we being the people who officially serve on the board but actually this is all the Portland security Community coming together and making this happen so thank you uh one final thing uh this is you saw this at Opening Ceremonies uh Chrystal Kaufman um died this year she was a fellow Pacific Northwest uh hacker uh and LED cal cal caterpillars seaer threat hunt team we got a donation in her honor and uh we are we extend our sincerest sympathies to her family and friends okay here's the good news hack booat is coming back for next year it's going to be on June 6th if

some of you have never attended hack booat which happened before the pandemic and then just happened again last year or actually this year uh this is a bunch of hackers on a boat we we go rent out one of the smaller Portland Spirit boats uh that do sort of the dinner tour kind of circuit on the river right you've probably seen at least an advertisement for that we rent it out for 4 hours we invite I don't know 100 of our closest friends or so I don't know what the Max Capacity is Ally do you know 104 104 there we go okay so four more of you get to come um than a second ago but anyways uh it is a good time it

is in the afternoon um it has in some points it's been sort of an unconference with lightning talks last year it was birds of a feather table and just tons of really good conversations so look forward to that we're going to be announcing where you can get tickets and all sorts of other good things coming here pretty soon and of course bides PDX will happen again thanks to you in October 2025 so I hope to see you in about a year sound good right so please join us for Beverages and snacks immediately behind you in the Vanport room where the air wall has suddenly disappeared and thanks very much for coming take care [Music]
