Good evening Dr. Lopa. Uh happy to have you here in the Bside Security Conference 2024 edition. Uh can you please give us a quick introduction about yourself? Thank you Ra. It's a great pleasure to be with all of you here. I'm a cyber security and technology risk management professional. That is what I can say. and I have uh experience in banking financial IT and automotive sector. Good. Uh Dr. Lopra uh can you please tell us uh any any thoughts or your views on the evolving threat landscape in today's times? See when we talk about the evolving threat landscape, it is a part of advancement of technology. The new technology we adopt that actually have a inherent weakness and that become
a threat for the organization or the people who are adopting it. Right? So it is continuously evolving and today we are in a connected world. So the way the crime get committed that is also getting changed. So with uh advancement of technology people are also exploiting them utilizing them to you know commit the financial crime and most of the attack apart from that are state sponsored attack it is not that you know uh just name and fame people are attacking today it's a continuous thing so it's a I would say that it also help as a security professional to evolve us and take our team, our expertise to the next step. Basically, they inspire us. I have a humans respect for all
those hackers that they always inspire us. Rather, I would say they keep us in our jobs. Good. U so moving on, Jenna has been the flavor of the season. a lot of companies are adopting and given your extensive experience and uh can you tell us uh any use cases or experience in uh using a genai for improving cyber defense? One one of the area is continuous monitoring that is you know uh speed is something which uh which is a huge differentiator in cyber right uh at certain small time window can be a can be a very big uh can bring a very big disaster for the organization. So when we talk about the continuous monitoring and we are in a such a
connected ecosystem it's humanly impossible to analyze those in time that is one of the use case another is today conducting a effective assessment or audit humanly is there's is not possible true so one is obviously audit is a huge use case though people are not utilizing it till But that's a emerging area I would say. Another is when we are utilizing the C media all other thing uh tools and techniques. It is not only allow us to monitor the attack surface or attack we are facing in day to day by day. also help us to understand our security efficiency and IT and application efficiency to produce a effective solution. How confident that organization become as a pra uh in
practicing all the security related you know techniques and controls to address the problem at root that can be monitored also. Awesome. Awesome. Very good uh perspective. Uh quickly what are the top uh three areas that you would recommend for improving cyber security? So one of the area is always I keep telling is the governance needs to be improved and the way we look at the governance pro uh professional that needs to be changed cuz today we felt that it's a checklist job but when you want to govern something you need to be master of that area then only you can govern so I felt that you know lots of subject matter technical subject subject matter
expert at high time they should look at this portfolio and also utilize this portfolio to move first in the ladder and the third one is obviously uh you know gen AI related threat how we are going to handle that because when we are deploying it in some of the social area or within the society that is having a positive side and that can we exploit also. Okay. So that needs to be awesome. Uh uh I I see that you had a great time attending today's uh conference. Any takeaways or learnings uh from today's sessions? Yes, obviously. Uh see uh when I'm meeting uh my industry colleagues, right? So it is always uh two three-way handshake I would say,
right? the way we do it in IP always we keep learning from each other and this kind of conference where we are getting the next gen professional also so understanding their perspective how they are thinking about uh and today most importantly cuz I'm part of a mentor board of uh W3CS so I got opportunity to meet some of my mentees in person who are from Bangalore And one of my mentee actually traveled from around from uh Mumbai. Wow. It's nice. So it is actually a I would say a bonus right meeting the mentor. Absolutely. It's always a pleasure to meet mentees who take so much effort to come and meet the mentor. Correct. Good. Nice uh having you in
today's uh uh event and I hope you had a good time. Uh and we are happy to host you. Thanks a lot for sharing your views and uh spending time with us. Thank you. And cute pleasure is mine.
