Now, imagine a regular shape, like a square. If we measure its perimeter, it has a definite length. But if we replace each side with a smaller version of the same shape, and repeat this process infinitely, the perimeter grows and grows. Eventually, it becomes infinitely long, while still being contained within a finite area. This is a fractal, a mathematical curiosity where complexity increases as you zoom in.
