right here on this stage we have a break of course we've got lunch we've got activities but it's not just about the content we also have workshops competitions did you know there is a secret arcade up there try and find it during the breaks yes there's actually an arcade we brought an arcade to small Auditorium and we have our sponsors who really want to meet with you not because they want to sell you anything but because they want to hire you so make sure that you get out there that you meet people that you speak and that you experience a lot of the things that we have going on I see that we have this

again in case you didn't notice it the first time that's great okay so the CTF announcement is going to take place at 6:30 and for those of you who are not sure what's a CTF it's our capture the flag competition and after that we're going to have a beautiful closing keynote from a very special lady SZ yashar SAS is a unique lady she grew up in Iran moved to Israel spent years with 8200 and she's going to share with us her stories about the fog of War so make sure you stay until the end we've saved some of our best content for last now some of you might be wondering where the heck did I show up this morning so who

here with a raise of your hand or your virtual hand and people there behind the screen write me on slack on Twitter is this your first time at a bides event raise your hands if this is your first time oh wow quite a lot of you almost 50% of you are new bees welcome to Bates Tel Aviv so what is security bides well bides actually started far from Tel Aviv all the way in Las Vegas and it happened about 12 years ago a group of security researchers and hackers didn't really find their voice and their place in the main mainstream conferences so they started a community of their own and that's how bides was born since then

bides became a global phenomena look at that these are just some of the bides around the world and we are proud to be one of the most uh prolific ones here in the Middle East and the Mediterranean region and we visit with our friends from around the world all the time this was our humble beginning right here at Tel Aviv University uh about 5 years ago in 2016 this was the very first bide T Aviv anybody here who was in the room give a shout out yeah we've got some veterans okay I'm going to start a bides Tel Aviv frequent flyer program and you'll get some points for showing up in fact in 2020 when the pandemic hit we

went hybrid and we created a unique hybrid event uh it was really fun but it's more fun to see all of you right here with us today this year we are of course participating on social media so you can find us with besides televis 2021 on any platform of your choice Twitter um Facebook Instagram telegram or you can send me a fax I'm kidding I don't use faxes we are in the 21st century everybody so you can find us online and you can find us on slack if you have questions just use the hashtag ask besides Tel Aviv I'll be checking that out backstage and I'll be able to ask the speakers right here on this

stage now a little something serious uh I see see some people congregating over there in the entrance please come in grab a seat you can also go up to the nose bleeds the cheap seats as they're known up there but we've got lots of space around in the room feel free to socially distance yourself from your friends your loved ones and the people that you simply don't want to sit next to maybe sit next to somebody you do want to sit next to now some important words this is when I get serious this is our code of conduct and we are going to be really serious about this for minute because we really want to provide

everybody with a safe and pleasant experience and that takes place here in the room or online okay I think that's really clear by signing up by registering you have agreed to our code of conduct and we do not tolerate any kinds of shenanigans abuse or harassment not here in the room and not online so if you feel like something's not wrong talk to us talk to one of the team actually you can uh find our team pretty easily they're wearing white shirts this week although I see quite a few people are wearing white shirts so please make sure you reach out to somebody in the team if you need any help or assistance and we are going to maintain our right

possible now just in case you forgot I want to look I want to have a see what do you do with your mask you keep them on yes that's right keep calm and keep your masks on now as I get ready to introduce our keynote opening speaker I want to answer a burning question I'm sure many of you have had why cyberp punk what is cyberp punk why are we here under this theme of cyberp punk well other than being my personal genre of Science Fiction that's always Inspire inspired me cyberp punk was something I always thought would become a reality this is a magazine from 1993 Mondo magazine and in 1993 in order to be a true cyber punk you need to have

cash money a GPS locator and all of that gear now what would a cyber Punk look like in let's say 2077 oh that's right he would look like keano Reves or Johnny silveran from the cyberpunk video game so for those unfamiliar with cyber Punk it's a genre of Science Fiction which is all about the combination of high tech and low life the friction the edges the underground the way technological advancements change Humanity but also challenge humanity and this year right now we are experiencing it cyber Punk is more reality than ever before one of the reasons I personally connected with cyberp Punk books like Neuromancer which came out in 1982 is that the heroes were

hackers before hackers were reality they are already in science fiction hackers fighting against machines and this is what the poet who brought us cyberp Punk has to say the future is already here it is just not evenly distributed yet this is the concept of cyberp punk we are experiencing the future in different ways and different people are actually going through challenges or opportunities or even enhancements in a different pace so in order to invite our next speaker who is going to really take you through that cyber Punk future I want to share a few words about him because our keynote speaker is someone whom I absolutely adore he's my personal cyber safety hero and he's going to talk

to us about why our cyberpunk future is here but it's not evenly distributed so let's hear a little bit about him okay Bo Woods Bo Woods is from the I am the Cavalry Grassroots movement of friendly hackers he has many roles with Defcon and with different Villages like the Aerospace Village the IC Village and the biohacking village he's also the co-author of the popular book practical iot hacking bestseller on Amazon and of course he participates many years in Defcon and bides in fact Bo brought me to my very first bides Las Vegas now one more fun fact about our speaker as I see he's ready backstage he was a volunteer at the very first bites T Aviv 2021 Bo
