
hi everyone my name is Julian and I'm here to talk to you about a new and exciting initiative happening at besides Ottawa this year the policy Village the policy Village is a dedicated space where cybercity professionals and policy makers come together to explore the connection between technology and public policy our goal is to Foster dialogue that helps both sides understand the impact of policy decisions on the cyber security field whether you're a hacker cybercity professional policy maker or somebody new to either field we invite you to join the conversation now just a few important details the policy Village is not a technical Workshop we won't dive into the fine details of implementing technical controls or how
to comply with regulatory requirements don't worry there'll be plenty of that in the other tracks of besid Ottawa we also won't be addressing corporate policies for example the acceptable use policy that you're asked to follow at your place of employment the policy Village is also not about politics we want engage in partisan debate Ates or political discussions public policy is broader these are policies created by governments that impact society as a whole setting the legal framework for how technology is used and regulated we'll have talks and presentations that Inspire productive dialogue but even more important there will be enough time for that dialogue to take place we are scheduling free time between presentations to connect Network and
