Crafts - honeypot

howdy ho campers i'm counselor nick from the speaker ops cabin so due to some lake shark sightings we are canceling today's canoe trip but we're going to do the next best thing arts and crafts we're going to be making today are honeypot bird feeders so you're going to need a few things one an empty carton sorry to my friends up north empty milk bags do not work you're going to need some string you're going to need something to act as a perch so popsicle sticks or uh you know chopsticks i mean i know you've all been ordering takeout for a year so you probably got drawers full of this stuff you need a ruler a marker and a craft

knife so to get started we're going to draw the entryway on our feeder so take our marker draw a nice little door on here lake sharks they're a real thing you

know okay looks good gonna flip this over and do the door on the other side see i'm drawing these nice straight lines but wait till i try to cut them out just watch okay so we got our doors now we're going to take our craft knife please please please be careful otherwise the chief counselor is going to get me in a lot of trouble so we're just going to cut out our door

yeah you can go outside the lines that's

fine all right so that's one door oh yeah i should have mentioned make sure you rinse this thing out there's a little bit of water in there so all right i'm gonna cut out our second door again completely ignoring those lines i

drew all right okay so that's going to be our doorway all right the next thing we want to do is uh make a little hole uh in either side for our perch so i'm just going to take the craft knife and just kind of make a hole right there flip this over make a hole right there then we're going to take our perch all right

and we're gonna slide this on through the hole that we just made there we go awesome our feeders looking pretty good at this point right we got our our purchase for the intended targets to land on um we're just going to have to put a little bit of string now so we can hang this up on a tree branch or something so i mean we can either kind of cut through here and run some string through that might be a little bit tricky so what we're going to do is just cut a hole right through the top here

all right maybe cut it a little bit lower you know it's not leaving ourselves a whole lot of room but you know good enough so we're just going to take our string

cut off a reasonable amount here and uh i'm going to double loop it just to make it nice and strong right i can have two strands going through all right so i'm going to pinch this end and just put it through the hole that we made put it on through

by this end with whatever not comes to mind i don't really know many so we're just going to go with this guy

yeah that totally looks dirty um all right so we have our string we have our sort of little house in here we have our perch the only thing left is we need some kind of uh delicious bait to lure in the type of target we are hoping to attract to our honeypot bird feeder here so i happen to have the perfect thing we're just going to take that and we're just going to shove that inside all right we're going to hang that up and just wait for them to show up anyways that's a honeypot bird feeder have a great day everybody
