CTF Summary

[Music] thank you [Applause] [Music] okay okay you can hear us we will start yeah so hey everyone my name is Nimrod and this is Thomas yeah I'm Thomas yeah so first of all thanks for all the participants this year in the CTF it was amazing CTF uh how can I change it just click okay so uh this CTF was this impressive amount of challenges servers and infrastructures it was expensive so we are open for donations and joking um so uh this skill as I said was in in huge amount of challenges uh we had 26 challenges seven categories and 1158 unique users [Music] um also we had 70 90 9683 uh unique IP addresses and

681 registered teams we had also 678 soft challenges and 100 90 teams uh okay so with the most correct submissions with 149th submission the medium expectation challenge was the with the most solves and the second one was the mode Pawn with 76 submissions the high expectation was solved by 61 teams and they guessed the shell codes sold by 57 tips we heard also the SUV and IntelliJ Communicator that sold by only one team and still remained with two unsolved challenges called the prefer chair and only hope so funny thing sometimes you can discover Clues within the challenge names so yes

and every year we get in every time a wrong submissions for the flags I will never submit a dummy flag again and it's made again and more not funny things they can find here someone make a generate a flag with no clue from where it's happened and also Sharon is here Sharon can I tell her you already married yeah yeah I don't think his life his wife will like it so that it's your fault okay so now we'll talk about the war war stories so we started on May on the 10th of May and we started uh with the first CTF Meetup and we meet all the creators all the developers of the challenges some of them are here people from jctf

but we will talk about them later um a lot of sleepless nights huge cicd pipeline I think it will not shame uh any company any kind of company or startup um and now I will talk about what the worst that can associate it already happen or so a lot of things happened in the CTF and I will start talking about things that happened that wasn't so great but it's still funny and it's still interesting and we're learning from it and we want you to learn from it also if you create a CTF the first thing you need to see is if you have 8 000 users and one thousand eight eight thousand unique APS and 1000 users

uh ctfd creates a lot of connections to the database so increase the max concerned concurrent connections okay um so we started by having um a problem with the mailing server we had a mailing server that didn't work so nobody got a mail and we started manually accepting people and I hope that if you sent us the message you got accepted right away because we don't want people to wait afterwards we had 7 000 unique IPS that means that a lot of people actually use the challenges play the challenges and also attacked the challenges so when you have so many IPS only on the city FD I think it's something like um more than 10 000 IPS that gone through the

um frame through the pipeline that means that we had three nodes in Amazon and one of the nodes got shut down and the auto scaling group didn't work um but still the CTF managed to to have all the challenges working because we had more notes but we added some more so it was at the end three nodes with all the challenges and many many many pods like something like 200 pods because we had many challenges 26. it's eight more than every year we created the CTF and it's a lot um we had one flag leaked I think the Pokemons are crying Ash Ketchum will not seem they see them again so it's got resisted to be with zero points

and we had um 404 uh challenge that people started messing the flag and changing the flag so we created the WAFF in the middle of the night so people won't change the flag and we notified everybody that the challenge is stable um and now Nimrod will talk about the people that written the challenges we also want to honor to the CTF developers who participate by on the building of the CTF it was amazing it was a lot of day and nights without sleeping so let's start with jctf team jctf team once the group that wounds a lot of times until we say them you can participate you should come us and join the team so the first one is Ari

would envelope perform the cicd process in the city athlete beautiful man so we want to mention the group who won actually won the CTF but uh by our Rules book the winners that can't be here they actually can't get the prizes so we also want to honor them all right sorry so the project Sakai was the first place on the CTF and now we will talk about the winners that will actually can take the prices so in the third place the winner is the hot dog sellers I will get their friends yeah hot dog sellers someone can come to the stage and take the prices foreign [Applause]
