even there something blipping like I don't know what but anyway hi morning everyone thank you guess I can say thank you you can do it again just because I didn't look back when they ask but who is this his first P oh pretty and this is epic yes it's like it's like a plan for it so are available and more organized definely organized definitely organized I slide five I think can bear with me bear with me bear with me yeah yeah don't V in the fun um so um it should be exciting day thanks everyone for coming to listening to me that's especially for you Mark I I put that I think it's good representation of

our industry in terms of when we going into a conference right we want to sell something we want to buy something there a lot of scary things cost us gillions of money to be secure and then when Ben said oh will you will you do a talk which just for everyone's record I only found out two weeks ago um I said yes and and and I had this great idea that uh that would be the title for my talk right I had this conversation with my team it was really funny but nothing is perfect right nothing isfe I brilliant brilliant brilliant talk title but it's this so um I I I talk about it again

and I I don't think I don't think it's f for me to stand here and talk about you know my experiences my ideas how do we make skill I don't have any zero days I don't have any amazing research to share with you um as I said I I was it was a conversation in the pub and I I was sure we were joking when I said oh I'll do a talk yeah no worries like so here I am doing a talk and and hopefully we'll entertain to some all of you so you're probably asking no kids in apologies if there's any kids I'll keep it as clean as I can so you probably wondering who I

am so we kind of keep it simple I'm David I don't do social media um I don't live the house much and and I ended up giving a talk I I answer to the as well some some kid asked me what's written on my bdge and and various various other nicknames of flying run so quick disclaimer everything I say here it's my my thoughts my opinion is my experiences it's my ideas you're not happy with it it doesn't work for you that's absolutely fine but here I told you that right I did not get paid for any product placement if there's any vendor here that's interested I'm open for conversation um absolutely come and see

me after so oh that's that's going to take 30 second I should have moved the animation it would go stop lipping so I thought we'll do a talk about bides because I don't know some of you think B there are lot of bides we had 1,000 bides happening in July globally bides everywhere and what makes bid bid is the event we we'll get to it so what is bides right it's a conference it's been running for 15 years there's various bits of information that you can find online about how did it happen why did it happen but I want to share with you some of my experiences right so feel free to go and read about it yeah Wikipedia

toorgle it's going to be amazing so like I I actually had a suit on um and I came to a conference right and I expected to see vendor boots trying to send me some stuff and and talking to me about the next amazing solutions they have in the market but uh now that's the tricky technical bit one second cuz it probably will not play where I want it to and I can't see anything so let's move to let's move to the browser and I'm going to enter Ain you all with a very very short so this is technically

AR false you be false like [ __ ] p p that's what you do have you however and describe yourself as a booking Ser who own bought and so because that is what you fing are so we live the that I thought I'm going to a conference right to to hear about all the fuds and everything that happen in our industry um because I I I was a a want be h a security consultant but uh it was a party and it was an ethic one on the second b side I didn't have a suit I can share with you that and it was a really really good party so for those of you who don't know

I I I I went to besides London and I went to besides London 2014 in a suit I went to besides London 2015 in a jeans and a t-shirt and I started helping a little bit with bides London after that but that's not the point cuz we hear Newcastle so we're going to talk about besides Newcastle like Dave and Sam and and and all the volunteers he introduced besides Newcastle is different right it's an amazing event it's a bit quirky it's it's a bit unstructured Talk That was supposed to start I don't know how many hours ago and started a bit later but it's fine because it's B it's Newcastle and it is a wonderful event H for those of you who

don't know there's a lot of hard work that Ben and the rest of the volunteers are doing every year to try and make that event happen whether it was online or whether it's in person like you heard that rescue from the facilities last year was epic wasn't it so you have no idea the amount of work that it takes to make this one day happen um and the beautiful thing about bid I probably should have said it in the slides with the whole references to Jack and and the rest bid is not your normal conference it's the antithesis for a conference right it's a conference that is for you it's a conference that is by

you right that's that's why we do bides so I wanted to to just read a quote and then it happened a door open to a worldall rushing through the phone line like heroin through addict rain an electronic polls it sent out a refuge from a dayto day Inc competencies is sought a board is found this is it this is where I belong I know everyone here even if I never met them never talk to them may never hear from them again I know you all damn kid dying up the 49 again so bid is about that for me again my thoughts bides is about Community is about bringing all of us here together and having talks and and and giving me

15 minutes of glor or so whatever it will last um it's about supporting our curiosity whether it's the new research that someone going to give a talk or I hope that the servers and the infrastructure is working for the live demos and all the exciting things that's happening besides is for you and it's by you it's not for me and it's not by me I love coming to every one of those that I attend because they're different and they're wonderful I see some friends some people I know from before I meet lots of new people for me this is my tribe it supports my need for exploration and I will encourage every single one of you

to never stop to keep being curious because this is that platform that's what we do and the beautiful thing about bides it's it doesn't going to bankrupt you cuz I I would probably imagine that most of you got a free ticket so there is a whole point of building a community and bringing people together power off that's fine we don't need you anymore thanks D it's it's about differences and it's about being okay with those differences this is who we are if it would have been carbon copies of each other it would have been damn boring can you imagine a conference of doctors I don't want to be there um I'll read that one as well even

though you can probably read it for yourself it's the it's the later part of the H Manifesto if you missed the reference for the first one um cuz we are a community who celebrates this difference right and my crime is of curiosity my crime is judging people what they say what they do not what they look like my crime is of out smarting me it is such a powerful document that was written and changed my life and I I play with keyboards for the last 30 years and we all hear ah no don't die that's that's no that's not me oh B nothing it just keep blinking look I'll plug it in and up again hang on hang on hang on hang on

yeah yeah yeah Che you [Music] got everything okay hang on hang on hang on he might he might come excellent excellent I got my I got my caricatures uh if you want to talk about the comics come to me later but the we here because we are nerds right and this is wonderful and that's our commonality right that's what make for me what makes bid it's wonderful um it's the chance to be with everyone um I used to say many years ago for for a different event that I I I help run a party for my mates it's that's what it's transpired to be so does yes it works I I put the most hypnotic background CU I

I I I kind of hoping you know to M tricks and all that kind of [ __ ] but really what what I'm trying to say is beyond that that it's fantastic and amazing and the rest of it um I I have my own personal message I think or the way I my outlook on life is that you should never stop playing because life is a game so please never stop playing now I will take a moment cuz it's important to see the date course it's the 26th of March 201 it's 5 years in B Mike was my my best friend uh I did a lot in bides the lot of the community died from cancer so by

cancer we have a lot of other friends colleagues people we know in the industry going through fighting um it gives me a great opportunity to take it completely off past and say you know if there's something weird something funny a lump a cough whatever go up to your freaking GP ask the doctor for help there's nothing wrong with it the sooner you find out the EAS it becomes right so I'm very privileged that you're listening to me saying that I hope we all going to live forever really is my hope so go and hack the planet and thank you for listening to me and thank you all for coming
