So You Wanna Be A Baiter

even 10 of you here to maybe send a response to that Nigerian print email if I canade just five of you to do that then we won the reason why we will win is because we are helping those scammers stay away from those victims my screen okay we doing that's a talk by everybody um right we now let's see if the anything did come up when I do this we are not getting a picture right now still nothing still nothing okay do you want to plug that in yeah there's a talk on the on a stick while that's going on I will just go into the talk okay so no that's okay that was just to

test the audio earlier but uh so yeah we've discussed the whole shooting sumbody thing um you want to be a beter we were going to call it Bey mcba face at one point but we went with so you want to be a beta what is a scam beta has already been explained which is brilliant we unplug that and plug that into there see if that works um so while we still have technical issues I'll just carry on first of all um if you want to become a beta the number one rule is to always always bait safe this more than anything else take back with you uh first up never use anything that can be

traced back to your real life details don't use your real name don't use your photos don't reuse your email addresses or anything like this start with a completely clean slate uh half truths can be easier than lies to remember if you are new to scam baiting and you start actually talking to a scammer in real time if you've got a bunch of Lies it's possible you forget the lie and tell the truth if you use a half truth then you can quite often not slip up whereas you may if you did it the other way for example uh first SC asked me what I did this week I met up with my friend George we went to town

did a bit of shopping looking at DVDs came back and ented Netflix and chill and and u a takeaway part of that is true I did meet my friend we did go to town we did do the Netflix and chill but his name isn't George so when they talk to me I'm able to to quickly say these things because half of it is the truth and only half of it is a lie keep records if we need to access information at a glance again this is to make sure that you don't accidentally mess up because we all do it at some point let's be honest about it but if you keep records then you're more likely

not to me M up and if you do slip up let just gone off uh if you do slip up kill the bait do not try to continue it kill it but you can always rebate the scammer at a later date using the new email account so learn what you learned from that time and then reuse it for the next time right dos and don'ts we're going to start off with the Dos firstly bait for the right reason bait because scammers are bad bait because you hate the fact that people are losing money to scammers and bait because you're a good person do not bait because you think it's going to make you rich and famous

because I can tell you and chill can tell you does not happen um and don't bait just because the scammer is a different skin color or from a different country to you if you come in trying that kind of [ __ ] you are going to be kicked out very very quickly work with other B is to share knowledge as you can see we have two of us here um the stuff that I know that chill doesn't that the chill know that I don't so if you work with a group one of you may know more about the technical side one of you may know about the psychological side and you you are able to become a

better team because of that so work with other bers post what you receive if you are just messing with a scammer for f and all you're really doing is wasting a little bit of their time and that's it what you need to do is post up those details that you're getting to warn other people rather than waste say 20 minutes of a scammer's Time posting up those details will damage the scammer's business and when we do that they hate us for it which is why we don't use our real life details but make sure whatever you do post it up to warn other people try out different scammer types to see what fits I started off as a beta dealing with uh

dying Widow scams I don't know if that was mentioned in the in the earlier talk it's basically I'm dying I've got all this money I would like you to donate it to charity and then you have to pay the fees to be able to get the money to do that couple of months in I discovered romance scam baiting and that was my like bulb moment once I discovered romance scammers yeah that I was particularly good at doing that and when I started doing scammer calls I found I was fairly good at that as well would you say yeah veryy good not not not bad but together we're awesome well yes oh absolutely and let your

imagination run wild you are created an entirely new persona you can be anybody I have been a part of NASA I have been Joe watch's toour manager and Jill and I have been the mother mother and father of a talking hamster called Houdini and we had uh a scammer who we we thought was the pope because his name was Paul John but he's actually John Paul the pope and we had him pray for Houdini because he went missing so you can be anybody that the only thing that's going to slow you down is the things you can come up with and now on to the duns which is the ethical part first of all don't give them

anything they can reuse don't send them a fake ID because you think it's funny to send one with a picture of Mr Bean don't correct them if they say something wrong give them nothing except misinformation I had a Russian scammer once who I told across the water in Welsh is aave okay couple of Welsh people here is a Welsh word it has no literal trans but it's what you would say if you stepped in some dogm or you say to child don't touch that it's so yeah I taught the scammer that a is across the water and you will see how that paid dividends in a little bit don't involve others without their knowledge or permission this is what's

called the innocent third party rule can we get it up on the headend um just because your neighbor annoyed you this morning by mowing the lawn at 7:00 in the morning doesn't mean you should then give up vote their number to all the scammers and I don't don't let me uh give you ideas okay yeah um if they're not a part of the scam uh and they don't they have no idea that this thing is happening don't involve them no is the answer to that don't HDMI it's not plant is it plant to HDMI no mine is still plant to HDMI I you haven't got HDMI oh HDM okay there are pictures on this so you all have to

come have a quick look after okay unless we can get this to work it is coming through on the recording so when these are posted online if you watch again all the all the slides will be on there okay I promise but we're trying to catch up on time so um hang on it's turned off give it a sec right don't let get a scammer to send you money uh this is only it's cash baiting and it's been frowned upon for a long time now if a scammer sends you money it's not them sending you the money it's them persuading another victim to send you the money and if they realize they've been scammed your details are the the

ones that they have don't destroy anything that a scammer didn't pay for don't go deleting emails if they're on Gmail or Yahoo it's going to be a slight inconvenience to them but usually they'll just write back and say oh I'm sorry H there was a problem with my account can you know write to me on this account and carry on if it happened plus all the details that have been posted up already about the scammer and now n and void so don't do it please however if they have a website or a um or a custom email that they paid for Open Season have fun with them and don't do anything illegal and that definitely includes hacking uh it

seems odd for me to say this but uh we do not condone hacking and the Very simple reason is I have had people send me a virus because somebody sent a scammer the virus that scammer is email account sent it out to everybody on their account and then one of the people I was talking to was a victim of that scammer and that virus then got sent to my email um didn't open it because I realized immediately it was a virus but if you are not one 100% sure what you're doing don't go hacking and if you have people who see you and want to try hacking explain to them how to do it right I will say that um I have hacked

before um but most of the time I don't it's only a percent uh a a fraction of 1% of the time I've ever had to hack a scammer's account and then it was for very very serious reasons now what tools do you need first of all you are going to to need an Internet connected device phone laptop tablet anything as long as they connect to the internet and a new email account or two that's it that's all you need to be a beta what's nice to have is a way for the scams to call you uh we use Skype but you can also use a a sim a page go Sim and one of your old mobile

phones and give a scammer that number a VPN is nice which will hide your location but at the same time if you are using throwaway email accounts use Gmail cuz that hides your uh your location anyway and you don't have to do anything extra for it and a sandbox the scammers may try to send you a virus they may try to send you to a dodgy website having a Sandbox is extremely handy but all you have to do is say yeah I opened it I'm done open it they're not going to know any different so they are nice but you don't need them and not needed it's a fancy setup you can literally bait on a 10 Pon computer

and I have done and hacking tools let's have we get any there no let's um let's say Do not just don't hack uh unless you are absolutely sure you know what you're doing you don't you don't need to okay then email address addresses where you going to get those email addresses from you could create a fake sucker list which is a list of email addresses that the scammers will then write to and use all your new baiting email accounts oh that's f up oh look I think somebody pressed a button and it worked and yes so you could do that you could go on people's guest books leave a nice message and put your email address on there or the simplest

way go to a website that's got them all on there already this obviously is my site scams survivor.com so you can go there you look at the email that you get you got um put it in as re recovery scam put your reply and then post the thing underneath and you're done on to romance scammers now this is a bit more complicated and I've got 10 minutes going to rush up a little bit now uh find a free dating site known to be full of scammers again if you go to our site you'll see them listed there choose your trap type and create your profile accordingly there are three kinds of trap there's the Honey Trap

which as it sounds is a very appealing profile the problem is you are going to get genuine people contacting you there's the neutral uh trap which is no picture High am new here say hi on my favorite the vinegar trap my vinegar trap yes somebody knows what's coming up um my my vinegar trap uh at one point I said the end of a perfect first date would be you and I sitting together drinking a u drinking a glass of acid watch watching the sunset over the sewage works and I had scam P say oh your profile is lovely I'd love to talk to you and you know that only scammer they ever going to write to that I I did the

same thing I went on to America's Most Wanted website and picked a female um photo put it on and I got you're uh you're you are so beautiful um I'd love to date you and they're all scammers so where do we at there click on obvious scammer profiles but let them make the first Conta obvious scammer um profiles are ones where you look at the picture and it is a model or someone you recognize we've had ones that have been Sandra bulock we've had ones that have been various Pawn Stars you see them you know instantly that they are and the longer you do it the easier it gets so click on them just let them know that

you're around but don't actually uh send them anything let them reply to you they are going to try to get you off the site as quickly as possible and that is because they want to take you away from the site so there's no competition and there's nobody there saying be careful that guy's a scammer and fight the inevitable a factor if you're a guy like I am you are going to be baiting females who are really guys and you're going to have to pretend to fall in love with them it's uncomfortable and not everybody likes doing it but what I will say is what somebody said to me if you feel that uncomfortable they've got a

poent to be a woman so take that and use it make them as uncomfortable as possible be as catological be as gynecological as you can just freak them out when you get replies be patient don't rush if you try to go straight in the scammer is going to go I'm not waste my time on this and leave if you want to do longer replies be concise keep it open-ended but you can also keep your rep generics you can reuse them so I could send the same email to 20 different scammers with the exact same text in it play them and be a perfect victim the scammer will try to see if you know that he's a scammer and you may try to sneak

a word or a phrase in if you see it ignore it make them try to appease you when you argue so rather than say you're an idiot turn around and say why are you treating me like you think I'm an idiot that way they have to be on the back foot and they have to appease you once you get them to apologize the once it's a lot easier to get bigger things off them later on and many Lads make light work the most garment you deal with the better oh that's trick one uh the most garments you're dealing with the more you're going to be doing it the easier it'll be and you can work in waves uh say two

weeks every two weeks start a new batch and as one batch is ending the next batch is coming into fruition ready now bank accounts and fake websites we're not going to talk about here because it's a whole 30 minute talk in itself but Jill and I if you come chat with us later we will be able to talk you through it so onto lad calling first up you're about to call the scammer what you do you let the spotlight be on the scammer be like a TV interviewer you want to get the best out of that scammer so you were going to talk to them and let them be the star you're going to be an every call nobody

cares what you say they want to hear what the scammer says listen and be ready to go off in a different direction don't be rigid in what you want to do uh we've done called say okay we're going to do this but then the scammer will say something and we'll jump off in that direction so you can get much better results sometimes by being free and easy about uh what you do with them get the scammer off with script agreed then ignore so he saids send me an email you say yeah not a problem but while you're on the phone and continue to talk to them if you want to keep them going as long as you

can having a fellow beta with you can make for a better call uh Jill and I work together a lot on calls and she may have an idea that I don't I may have an idea that she doesn't and we can also pass the scammer between us to spam make them have to repeat things and just confuse the hell out of them quite frankly ramp up the crazy slowly again it's like the emails don't jump in too quick and you will hear how crazy it can get um work up work just a couple of minutes but work up to it don't immediately jump in and expect Duds I would say we can have day where we get

absolutely nothing and then day where we can get three really really good call in a row so you are going to get a lot of Deads but you are going to get those diamonds as well so I've been telling you all about this so what have I done so I'm going to show you some of my trophies and we're going to start off with the most famous one and if you like this I have stickers of it uh that you can have py claws it was Christmas uh my thing was getting scammers to put underwear on their heads so I combined the two and we have pant Claus does anybody know the wizard vid Comics No okay there's a character in

there whose catas was the king is a think that's why I had the scam the whole up sign that said the king is a think nothing Drew my views on the royal family when I said earlier about aave being across the water a these are two handwritten letters I received and if you look at them they were both written by the same person but claiming to be two different people and if you want to see these I have them in my bag there's one look at the very top line they said oh it is so strange and you look at the next one oh it is so strange but different people that's the the FSU scammers I

then dealt with the West African scammers so I had them to draw things so here are two things I had them to draw and here's another two things I had them to draw I had a scammer write four different letters from supposedly four different people so there's one if you look at the D's on them you'll see that these are kind of like backward sixes so you have that then we go for example the scam calls uh I'm going to play you one of the silliest songs you've ever heard I'm going to put the lyrics up on there as well this is when we convinced the scammer I was Joe Walsh's tour manager and here we go

ever I did war you now the ones where I shot my wife um I obviously didn't shoot my wife the person playing my wife lives in Europe and the person who record the little screams and the gunshots lives in America so it's just little samples of them uh here we go don't cry you're dead already dead me dead me dead look I tell you who's dead you are dead I've had enough of this I've had enough of you I've had enough of this lies and the [ __ ] and the cheating you know what I'm going to do I'm going to introduce you to my gun see how that makes you feel please Madam I'm still

begging I'm still begging I'm on my is you are a coward let me let me show you I'll show you how much of a coward I am right let me get my no don't do that don't do that I don't want to hear no no no if you can do that I will report you to the [Music] [Applause] FBI there take that now he h up he got scared to hung up he will report you to the going to report you to the FBI he obviously didn't but then we called him back and here's a little clip of that as well you can hear how panicked he is you say let you get your gun if I

find that you finally hurt your wife because of what she's saying I'm going to report you to the FBI also United Nation and to make sure they get ared Mr man I don't want anything you no matter how she said or anything you to raise G on her or to shout on her please please if that is a play you should stop that yeah I did shoot her again just you know now if you have any questions we don't have time right now but we are going to be around and we've also got a workshop tomorrow afternoon as well I don't know if there are any spare tickets left and we will be calling up
