BSides Glasgow 2018 - Andy Gill and Brian Higgins - The Internet of Death

Talk delivered at BSides Glasgow 2018 on the 27th of April. Abstract - The internet of things(IoT) is the new craze for security vulnerabilities; the 90s called and its vulnerability city all over again! This talk takes a more lighthearted look at the ways in which your house or IoT building could take control of your life. The topical name of this is “Internet of Death (IoD)”. With just about everything these days having a ‘smart’ version, it is only a matter of time before these devices are hijacked to cause harm. The talk will be interactive; Andy will take the technical lead on the aspects of technology that could be hijacked throughout the house whilst Brian acts out the potential dangerous effects of a device being taken over.
