Welcome to the very last session of BSides San Francisco 2026. WOO! IT'S BEEN AN amazing action-packed 2 days, and thank you so much all for coming. This year we had close to 3,000 participants. It's been a record year for this year. Well, I think last year we had like a little over 2,500, and so almost another 500 people this year. It's very crazy. You know, it's also the first year we've had acapella singers, and I hope you made it to last night's party and enjoyed the entertainment as well. But yeah, as you can see, quite we hit the the 2,000 number on just participants alone. Attendees, but then all the other types of badges that we

have as well. So yeah, almost 3,000 total badges that were accounted for. So amazing. Been a record year in a number of different ways. We had the most number of talks we've ever had before. 92 talks that included two keynotes, 86 talks and four panels. We also had 11 interactive sessions that included two podcasts, eight workshops, three Birds of a Feather sessions, and four pitches that we roasted as part of the Roast My Pitch thing. Running the call for papers process, call for presentations process is a lot of work. It's actually how I I personally first got involved in BSides San Francisco is that they needed somebody to do that, and so that was my first time back in

2015. And so yeah, in addition to all the work that the program team has done, they um they In addition to all the work they've done this weekend, they had to review 602 talk submissions. That was a record for us ever. And so I just want to give a big major shout-out to all of our program leads and our program review team. So let's give a a shout-out for them. >> [applause] >> So just some few fun facts about the program process this year. We had 18 people present at BSides San Francisco for the first time this year. So a lot of amazing first-time presenters. 154 total presenters. Five different sessions that included musical numbers

as part of the thing. So great thanks to all those actually understood the the assignment and went with it with this year's theme. And across all of our different presentations, 3,766 total slides, which is just insane. So for the CFP alone, we had 127 sessions that were submitted on the very last day. Way to keep with the, you know, procrastination, you know, as as is big in our profession. So yeah, just squeaking it in on that last day. For our Capture the Flag competition, we had about 3,300 registered users and more than 2,200 teams. Of those, more than 400 teams were actually on-site, and more of 600 of those teams actually had solves for any of the particular puzzles. And the

winners are and uh Cool. We actually had a three-way tie, and so we have Vera Labs in first place, TJ CSC in second place, Squid Proxy Lovers in third. And so all teams came in came in with the the same number of points, but we did it based off of who got there first. And so if you will stick around after this talk, and I can get you all your prizes for that. But let's let's give a round of applause to all those folks. Yes. >> [applause] >> Awesome. Our CTF team is they spend a lot of time putting this together every year. It's 10 people here. You can see the team. They work literally for months putting

all the different spending time building all the different puzzles and and challenges that are part of the of the Capture the Flag process. And so just again, major shout-out to the entire team here and all the folks listed here that give their time. They're all volunteers that all have day jobs as well doing this. So Talk a little bit about villages. So we had nine different villages this year. So want to thank all the different villagers that helped out as part of these villages. So Adversary AI, Bug Bounty, Career, Cloud, Crypto and Privacy, IoT, Lock Pick, and Script Kitty. So again, thank you to all, especially all the new villages that we had this year and all the new

folks that again donated their time to actually helping out. And just use again BSides ethos is about, you know, everyone is a participant. And so it's it's great that we have these villages that people can go to and learn these new these subjects and learn, you know, new things that are going on in the industry and and stay up-to-date. So continuing with the spirit of giving, going our event t-shirt sales, we raised over $4,000 for all of our three charities. And so Bard Theatre, EFF, and Diana Initiative. And so that's awesome. So thank you all for for buying t-shirts for that. It's going towards some great causes. So again, thank you to all there. So some stats on our internet. So we get

a 1 gigabit link from Google Fiber. We had a close to 2 terabytes downloaded and about 100 sorry, 750 gigabytes uploaded. 58 Aruba access points that donated by HPE that, you know, supporting all three three different bands. We had 2.4, and 6 gigahertz this year. So at about, you know, a little over 1,800 total clients, which is five more than last year somehow. I don't know why when we had like almost 500 more people here. But 35% of the clients were on peep, which is the our most secure offering there. And the rest of them, 65% and then additional 65% were just on WPA3, which is very interesting. Special thanks to our knock team. We have you

frowning Bulzi Slava Bweeks Frinchy Todd, Videoman, Isaac, and Ian. So round of applause to all those folks as well. >> [applause] >> Some interesting networking stats as well. You can see here that you can see our our traffic when we started kind of setting up the network and everything else here. So we what we noticed is that newer devices that had 6 gigahertz radios were actually having a really hard time getting internet and getting successfully the signal. So if you happen to be connecting early yesterday especially, and you noticed like, "Hey, things feel slow in the network." Well, most likely your your Wi-Fi chip actually is is was using 6 gigahertz. So we had some unexpected issues because

this is our first time. So we pushed out a firmware update last night, the knock team did. And that actually fixed most of the issues. And so you can actually see here that like, "Oh, it's a lot better after that firmware update." So doing it live, testing things live. Next, the event just would not be successful without all of the support from our generous sponsors. If you've heard me during opening remarks this morning, you know, we're like the the third biggest BSides or so in the world, but by far the most expensive as far as to put on BSides in the world just because this is San Francisco. And San Francisco is not cheap. And so

very much thank all of our sponsors for contributing financially to to allow us to hold this event and allow us to keep ticket costs as low as we can on that. I do want to give a major shout-out to our six gold sponsors, Akido, Arcjet, Clover, Datadog, Socket, and Sublime Security. Let's give a round of applause to all of our sponsors, please. >> [applause] >> Thanks are also due to all of our volunteers. So this weekend we had 235 different volunteers that were supporting the event. They filled more than 400 shifts for a total of 1,901 human hours volunteered. It takes a village to run an event of this size, and you know, they're our village. The

volunteers are our village. So very grateful for everyone who took the time to volunteer. So actually with that, if if you are a volunteer in this audience, I want you to stand up. Here. So if you have anything to volunteer with us, let's all stand up now. And like everybody else, thank you so much. Appreciate all your work. It is really meaningful, and really do appreciate everything you've done to make this event a success. So thank you again. And to acknowledge that the the volunteers that went above and beyond in the spirit of musicals, this year we have our Tiny Tony Awards. So we awarded 16 Tiny Tonys. And so these are AKA, Deadass, Dr. Lisa, Erica, Henry, Jock,

Jives, Night Owl, Christie, Murphy, Omega Ray Sharam, Sienna, Sophia, and Wang. So yeah, let's give another round of of applause to all these volunteers that went above and beyond. So thank you again to all of you. And a well-deserved thanks to all of my team that helps actually put the event on and works basically year-round to make this make this happen. So we actually track our steps during the event every time. So since we started kind of our setup process on Wednesday, we collectively walked 1.4 million steps. So yeah, it's it's a lot. Yes, indeed. The irony is that pretty much none of them are here except for we have okay one now because most of them are dealing with with oh we

got another one over here. But most of them are dealing with teardown because we're going to be here for the next few hours doing teardown and such not to to close up the show. You know, besides San Francisco is a 100% volunteer run organization. There's about 20 of us core staff members and leads that you know, we meet weekly. We kind of focus on different areas running different departments. But if you're interested in joining our team and understanding that that is a significant time commitment, please visit besidesf.org/jobs and we'll get in touch with you after the event. But again, I want to give a major shout out to all my team that's helps actually run this event. So

thank you. >> [applause] >> Could not have done this without you. They they know this like you know, I'm just one guy and I do do what I can but like I would there's no way I could do this stuff. It's it's nice to like know that like oh I can actually step away and things magically get done. Like you know, it's it's it's it's amazing. So I really do appreciate it. Um And one last request for your feedback. I know I said this and I know it's on all the signs everywhere but we really actually value your feedback. It it is me very meaningful to us. We spend a lot of time going through our postmortem where we

read every single bit of feedback that you send us. So make sure that you provide that. Again, there's two different ways fast and easy presentation feedback or then you know, you can go to just the QR code on the right is for general feedback. You can just also remember besidesf.org/feedback will take you directly to the forum where you can provide your feedback. So again, every year we try to make this better than last year and so we do this based off your feedback. So thank you again. But and it's that's a wrap. So thank you again for attending besides San Francisco 2025. We hope to see you next year. Our dates for next year will be

April 3rd and 4th, 2027. So thank you again and goodnight. >> [applause]
