Hi, my name is Marcin. As I mentioned before, I am a veteran. Usually, I have rather non-technical presentations. This one is also like that. However, I would like to address you as people who often take part in recommending other friends, co-workers or building security policy companies. You often make choices or recommend the right tools for safe communication. Today we will talk about what we can recommend to our employees, our friends, because the topic is quite difficult and changes very quickly. This year I did some research, because I wanted to publish a book about it. The publication did not come out, because it turned out that the topic is a bit off and I will also tell you why.
So, who am I? I'm a programmer, DevOps and cyber security coach. I run workshops, consultations and various things related to security. and above all how to think about technology, how an ordinary user should think about technology, that he should pay attention to the fact that the Internet is not made of gold bags, cats, rainbow, unicorns and cool videos on YouTube or memes, but mostly because more than 90% want to hurt the user or know everything he can about him. I've already told you why we're talking about it. Users don't realize it. They use the simplest tools, most often the ones they have on their phones, or they use Facebook. I don't know if you know, but last year... no, maybe a little bit
later, it could be 2-3 years ago, an investigation was conducted in Africa, during which it turned out that almost 70% of Internet users say they don't have Internet. They have Facebook. It is also a bit like Facebook in Africa, where they have their own program, which is being shared by the internet to a greater and greater population. But these people are not aware that they have the internet, they are aware that they have Facebook. And with this level of awareness we often collide. Unfortunately, these people communicate most often, they do everything through Facebook, they promote their businesses. Recently, I had the opportunity to find out that in Montenegro, the basic way of running a business on the Internet is done through Messenger, possibly through Vibe, because there users
use only and exclusively Internet communicators. services or services that have their own website or are run online, they have no reason to be there. Nobody does it there. Nobody is looking for a solution to their problem or to get some service or get some things. Nobody is looking for it in Google. Everyone is rather looking for it on Facebook or writing on Messenger and recommending it to each other. Therefore, if the service wants to be on the Internet, it must, as an interface, display the bot to Messenger. It is entirely dependent on it. In Poland, we search in Google, or on Facebook, but these are not tools that benefit our privacy, they are tools that collect everything that can be on our topic. Which leads to the fact that
if you want to communicate safely with someone, send him a postcard. In Poland, it is not so important. In the USA, every post is scanned and sent to the NSA database. After a while, it is processed and stored. It can be processed again if a question about a particular person is not answered. In Poland, fortunately, Our administration or government did not put enough money to implement such a thing. So if we want to send something to someone and we want little people to look at it, we send a postcard. If we want to be very safe, we pack it in a envelope. So that's why it is. Why do we have a problem with so many people looking at our
lists? The first reason is big data. Big data is like having sex in a prostitute. Everyone claims they did it, everyone does it, because it's trendy. Nobody knows what it's all about, but we do it. We do big data. It leads to the fact that companies collect all the information they can, all of it. About our activities in their services, Facebook collects likes, checks what we click, what we spend more time on, who we talk to, what type of content we send, Google what we search for. Very often we will mention something in a Messenger conversation the next day or even the same day, an hour later we have an ad on this topic displayed. And it's very common. Facebook even has the ability to
track the fact that we bought something in the shop based on the ad that was on Facebook. At first, it was done by checking whether the information was sent to the messenger later. Now, they have some additional cooperation, they have phones with GPS, Facebook apps, they have made it more complicated, thanks to which it is more accurate. But they can do it. They collect everything they can on our topic. And very often they are not able to process all the information they have collected so far. But they are still doing it, because maybe one day they will come up with a method We collect all the data we can, and we will do something with it someday. It is already valuable, because
the whole business of Facebook, corporations and companies is based on how much information they process and how much information they have. There were news that Facebook is offering banks to start sending them information about their clients, and they will share their information about their clients. Thanks to this, the business will be better for one and the other. So Facebook wants to transfer more and more of this information, despite the fall, despite the hearing before the congress. They say that they want to do it more safely, they want to do it less, they don't need to process as much, but we will do it anyway and we will expand it anyway. So the main problem is big data. The second problem is
NSA and security. NSA processes everything it can and they were basically the first in this field. They have the entire legal system, especially in the United States. They can send a request for information to a company that has its headquarters in the United States. This information has to be shared, and the company can't tell anyone that it had to share it. And this applies to all companies in the United States. And they do it. They have different ways to do it. There are some services that have a small banner on their website, where they inform: "Look here, because if this doesn't happen, it means that we were asked to share information. Unfortunately, your data has
been passed on, but they are no longer safe." But few people play with it. So the safe assumption is that if we are in the scene... I mean, they spy on everyone. We had a discussion about the fact that the German government is also spying on us. They are a bit like Facebook. They collect everything they can, put it into the database, gradually add tools to use it. From Snowden's escapes we know that they have a tool that allows them to search for the database of SMS and connections, just like Google. They have their own Google to process this information. They write some questions about the person, the person is missing, information is missing, with
whom she has recently contacted, the last connection, the last SMS, the last messages on Messenger, the last emails. Everything they managed to gather. Also Google, Wikipedia for processing personal data. Such tools are created, they create them. The point is that it is the data that is being processed. Their goal is to find new methods to process this information. And this brings us to the fact that we mentioned that we use Messenger, some people use WIBA. These are our communicators. We have WhatsApp, Mail, Skype, Snapchat and Slack. These are the most commonly used tools for communication. Slack is a very popular tool in startups, which replaces all other tools, because it gives a different and more pleasant interface. How many of them do we have? There
are two, if we are proud of it, there are three. We can add encryption to the email using pg, pg, pg. If we are proud of it, if we try very hard, this communication can be encrypted, it is not convenient. Next, encrypted communication is called WhatsApp and encrypted communication is called Facebook Messenger. In WhatsApp, this encryption is open, it is implemented out of the box. In Messenger, we have to click, choose, it is not completely convenient, because if we do it on one device, we will not be able to read these messages on any other. Therefore, few people do it. What we would like our users to use and what we would like to recommend to them is this set of applications.
The first one is Telegram, the second one is Signal, then Jitsi, I don't know how many of these icons you recognize or if you encounter them every day. Then we have Riot, which is a client of Matrix, we'll talk about it in a moment. Tox and finally our unfortunate GPG, which is a very old solution that we have for a long time. If someone is interested, they probably have their own key and sometimes they use it. There is a question, I'm listening. With Keybase. Can you tell me for a moment what kind of service is it? Because I will tell you that I do not quite remember at this moment. Keybase is a communicator that
also has mobile customers. It is based on the model of the twinkling tree of Merkle. And it seems to me that it is better in terms of safety than the one here. How do you know it? I don't give anonymity. How do you know it? From friends. I learned about it. So you have a chance to use it because your friends used it. Yes, but it works because we use it now. I have the same with Riot. I learned about it from my friends and that's why I use it. And of course we will find more of these services. It's not about what we think about specific services. I chose a set that I happened
to use. I didn't test all the applications, I tested them over the years and the last months doing research. So we have Riot, we have TOX, we have PGP. We have a lot of other services that we could recommend. If something works, I have a request for you. There was my email at the beginning, if you could send me a link, I would be very grateful, because I would also like to meet you if something works. There is a chance that they will use the whole list, the first two. That they use Telegram, because it was quite popular at the time. Thanks to the anti-terrorist rule, they use Signal almost for sure. It was a
big hit. When I started logging into Signal, after the entire anti-terrorism bill was announced, and when it came out, I started to jump out of it. This friend, that friend, that friend, everyone started using Signal. I was very surprised because they were very technical people. But it's also one of Signal's pages. It's as simple as possible. It has a simple interface, which is basically, according to the rule, the smallest surprise. It's an SMS application. And that's basically all we can say about Signal. It allows for a little more, it also has a desktop interface. It allows for sending files, not only photos and MMS. It also allows for encrypted video and audio connections. And that's cool. It's quite well distributed already at this point.
Unfortunately, it is not ideal at the moment. I chose this screenshot because it's almost everywhere. We can communicate via the www interface, on our phones, on iOS, Android, we also have a desktop application. In addition, Riot also allows group chats, allows connecting with other services. And there are quite a lot of these services, because you can also connect with Slack, for example. And people are adding more and more interfaces to connect with other services, so we can have one application, one communication center for various services. It's an idea that's coming back every now and then. because sometimes someone manages to integrate 4-5 services and then it turns out that if we want to integrate more, it's
not going so well or it's too complicated. Or services like Facebook start changing their protocol so that no one else can connect with it. It was the same with Skype. Once we could call each other via Skype Google Plus and Google Talk, but unfortunately this cooperation was cancelled and we couldn't do it anymore. So it appears, disappears, and with Riot there is a chance that it will work thanks to the fact that it is a completely open code and has a user base. Firstly, users. Secondly, for now, these are mainly technologically advanced users. And they are quite involved in the development of this application, so there is a chance that they will continue to do so and that it will work somehow. Because the matrix
from which Riot is a client allows for a lot. It allows for complete decentralization. And it works very well. Communication in Riot is not default encrypted, we have to enable it. It is a minus and a plus. That's why it is default encrypted, not every protocol allows it. We enable it in those that allow it. It also allows sending files. With Riot it is so cool that I managed to do it with my phone without any major problems. It is even better quality than making a teleconference for 5 people in Signal. It turned out really well, it didn't take much work, the only technical guy from the teleconference had to set up an account, we
had to add to our friends, of course. We started the teleconference and suddenly everything worked. We were all shocked because no one expected it. We spent an hour on it, we reserved an hour before the teleconference. It took us about five minutes. So what's the problem with such a cool application? In Signal they do almost everything right. They have a simple application, they have a desktop client, it works very well. Unfortunately, sometimes the Signal network lags a lot. It happens to me that messages from friends are sent by Signal protocol. Signal can also send ordinary SMS. Signal gets my messages after 5-6 hours or they get my messages after 10 or the next day. It doesn't happen all the time, but it happens and it can be annoying.
So it's a habit that when I don't have an answer for a long time, I send an additional message with a simple SMS, "Did you get my message?" And we confirm this receipt. And the additional problem of Signal is its centralization. It has an open code, we can set our own instance on our server. So, we can create our own signal, but unfortunately, this signal does not allow to communicate with the original signal. When we set our own signal server, we cannot send messages to other users. If someone has it, it is a separate account, it does not have the possibility to communicate with the rest. This is a very big problem. and it is
something that completely centralizes Signal. We are grateful to the grace of the current, practically the only programmer who decides what will happen to it. He hosts a service that everyone who sends files uses at the moment. If something does not work, the whole Signal network falls. We have this riot. Here it is so that I divided our entire list of recommended applications into two types of problems, because Telegram also falls under the problems of Signal. The rest is basically a problem of Riot. As I told you, it sounds like a perfect communicator, but unfortunately it's quite difficult to configure. Because it allows for a lot, it's created by programmers who have a cool idea, but
unfortunately it's very obvious that someone who would somehow connect it to be easy to use. As long as we want to use Riot only and exclusively, there is no problem. But if we want to connect to it services like IHRCE, like Slack, we can integrate with Twitter and other services, it requires more work, it's not that easy anymore. And it's practically a complete blocker, at this point, Riot for others who want to use it as a hub for communication. And it has a terrible interface. This is the biggest problem of most open applications, they have a terrible interface. The exception is Signal, the exception is Mitjitsi, possibly Telegram, although in my opinion It's like WhatsApp, but it would be useful to use something different. Telegram also has a
centralization problem. Initially, the application was from Russia, now it's from anywhere. It has the same problems as Messenger, WhatsApp, and all other Indus. They are probably in the United States at the moment. I'm not sure, if it's different, you can correct me. There is also a centralization problem. Unfortunately, configuration interfaces kill implementation. Very often. So later we have only worse, later we have TOX, which is something that develops very well. Generally. And the idea is also very cool. Unfortunately, if we want to have the same account for more than one device, it is impossible. We have to put in the last time I checked the second account. And again connect and communicate with all our other friends. "Oh, listen, I added this new device." Now we
have to scan, confirm with another way. So to do it safely. Because of course we can send the same way by SMS. It's a key to confirm, but it's not exactly the practice that we need and that ensures our safety. And PGP, as I mentioned, I can repeat it and repeat it and repeat it, it's fatal. Running it during workshops, running PGP, if someone wants, if a group or a company wants to run PGP, I try to get them away from it as much as I can, because running it in six-hour workshops is practically impossible for it to end successfully. And we're basically breaking down how PGP works. It's very easy for tech people. I know two organizations where PGP was implemented. I helped one of
them. But it required a lot of commitment from them. They had problems with PGP. The main interface most people would use was Thunderbird with NickMail. It doesn't always work as we want. The latter one works better than the second one, but it's not that good. So PGP is also a nightmare. And in all of this there is also our MidGC, the Jina icon that I showed earlier. At the beginning it was a commercial service, which was not very popular. Companies bought it because it allowed video conferences and you could have something like Skype for business, but a little cheaper. and on their own servers. So the internal communication was perfect, the communication between our companies
was also very good. And that's how they developed. But they came up with an idea and they did it very well. They made a service meet.git.se, which basically consists of entering, creating the name of our room, we get a link with which we share with others, others enter through their browser, there is also a mobile application, they connect with each other and it just works. I even conducted a recruitment conversation using MeetGit. where I connected via Firefox with my phone. It was a video conference, everything worked very well. It was two years ago, now it's even better, because they introduced mobile applications, which have solved many problems with implementation, because they use native tools of our phone. So my proposal will be Signal and my proposal will be Gitsy.
In the form of Gitsy for communication. If we want to recommend someone or we want to implement it ourselves, safe communication procedures in companies we work with or cooperate with. My recommendation is to recommend these two applications because they work best at the moment. They have their problems, but they work very well. Midgitsy has the least of them because it is basically focused on making video conferences and doing them well. There is also a chat where you can communicate and enter links. The easiest way to implement it. We just send a link, people start using it, because they click, the whole window opens, there is only confirmation whether you can use your camera, your microphone and that's it. So this is the easiest tool for communication in
which the messages we send remain, but there is a signal. In the future, I hope it will be Riot, because its mobile application is actually a little better than a desktop or web interface application. However, I have successfully implemented it. and not the ones I take care of later, people are happy and use them, but mainly use the Riot protocol, possibly the connection with IRCE for communication. It can replace Slack, so it is also quite convenient that of all Slack alternatives, especially the open-source ones, this one can be implemented quite painlessly. It doesn't look the best, but as a tool for communication, people are able to accept it. However, communication in real time is not everything. and it's basically just a cut-off
of our communication. We use social media for everything that is good only and only for consumption. So for watching, liking, watching memes, watching what appeared on stories on Instagram, what appeared on stories on Snapchat, what appeared on stories on Messenger and on any other application that still has stories available, which we use. However, if we want to start publishing, if we want to be a creator, then we have quite a lot of problems here. Because unfortunately, we are, only deciding on the presence on Facebook, we decide on a complete dependence on Facebook, on what it will do. If it's a fan page, it will be worse and worse and worse and worse, because I don't know the fan page and I haven't heard about
a fan page that would promote well and that would be nice to see all the posts if the site doesn't invest in promotion. At this point, if we don't buy ads on Facebook, It's very unlikely that at least 15% of our fans will see our post. What? Yes? Yes, and regularly, without buying. Yes, like something popular. Yes, but you have to do additional actions so that it fits. And what do you know about your fans? Do they like other sites like this? I mean, do they have a lot of fan pages that they like, or rather not much? Here we also have targets, if we do a marketing page, the audience has much more liked pages,
so there is a smaller chance that we will break through. If they have few pages, as in the case of SBS, There is a much greater chance that we will go out and get through the noise that exists and is produced by other websites. However, Facebook needs to earn money from it. It is better to earn money from those who earn money than from those who are just users of Fricka. So Facebook is doing it quite right, but more and more people want to run their own businesses and communicate with their clients, both current and future, via Facebook. And this is a very big mistake, but here we are talking about the safety of business as such, it is not technological safety. And this
can influence our safety as well as our career and our personality. And here's something that came to my mind recently, a case that I consulted. A man who promoted his practice on Facebook, but unfortunately due to a post on his private profile on some fanpage that didn't like it when it turned out to be a group of very involved nationalists, it basically destroyed his business. his image on the Internet, and secondly, they destroyed his career. And they did it in two months. With a little involvement, one person didn't like it, this person got so angry that she decided to harm this man. And she did it so effectively that despite blocking accounts, despite some requests for a break, they won't stop. They do it all
the time and they will do it. Due to the fact that his private practice was a bit down due to this problem, he was looking for a job somewhere else and wanted to join another brand. He managed to get along with the company, but unfortunately when it was announced that he would start working there, the whole damage was also transferred to the brand, which ended their cooperation very quickly, because the brand simply did not want to deal with such things. And the man found himself in a trap, because it basically ruined his career. Only because he was on Facebook, because he talked to someone, someone didn't like it and someone wants to hurt him. It's
not much, but it can hurt a private person very much. And such cases happen, people don't know what to do next. The fact is that the first basic mistake is why you were only on Facebook, you had to have a page. Because the problem with Facebook is that we don't control what appears there, we don't control who can say it. He has the freedom to criticize someone, to be so involved in it that he can criticize everywhere and always, and thus to increase the effectiveness of what he publishes on the web. And what can such a person do? Facebook gives tools, allows for advertising, allows for advertising in several different categories. The result may be that the profile of the person
who published it will be blocked, deleted. However, this is actually a staining of results, symptoms, not reasons. And that's why Facebook no longer has tools, because it is such a large corporation that we are not able to understand whether they have such a problem and sign up for two or three pages of A4 paper. where we describe the problem, how much it hurts us, how much we want it to help us. Unfortunately, there is no one who would lean on it and read it. It's even hard to send it somewhere. I don't know if any of you ever searched for a Facebook email? Did you find it? Yes. And when you go to the help
department, there is no window where you can enter any information and send it. We had such problems with the fan page that was taken over. Finally, we managed to communicate through the Facebook page for business. There was a communication forum. We wrote our message there and it lasted almost two months before we got the answer. And we were redirected to someone else. Sorry, we can't help you here, but they did it so well that they gave us an email that we could write to. Finally, I had an email to someone on Facebook with whom I could communicate. And it was an amazing joy, because I spent a lot of time on it, going through all
possible pages, where there may be an email to Facebook. There were such things once. I'm listening. Wait, wait, wait. Yes, you can try it there, but they usually say: "Use our help". You will definitely find an answer there. In this case, as I said before, it is difficult to find help. Unfortunately, we need a person who understands what we are talking about. Not a machine, who says: "I see your problem, we are entering it in the search, here you have the information. Read it here and your problem will be solved if you click three times". Unfortunately, in this case it will not be so. I don't know if you know Villa Carpatia, there was a big storm in Wypok. I don't know, but you can tell us.
It happened. At the beginning there were millions of bad comments on Facebook, many of them blocked, they hired a PR agency. Of course, they were against the official communication, but they waited for it. When the shit storm stopped, they bought the right comments and now they have a bigger movement than before. So you can get money from it. Yes, it's like with the leaks. I said something last year at the presentation that leaks are paying off at this point. These problems are often solved. I don't know what your experience is, but if you are talking about Facebook or Google, I haven't had a problem where I found an answer. Did you find an answer? The microphones are moving. I haven't found an answer, but
for two years I've been trying to explain why, despite the SPF and all these things, Google still claims that I'm spamming. I started to have this problem recently, because I have an impression that the SPF format accepted by Gmail has changed a bit and we need to think about it. We can look for it together. We can look for it together, but it's not the topic of this presentation. Has anyone else solved their problem with the help of Google or Facebook? It's hard, isn't it? So basically we don't know what it is for. Is there any other question? Yes. I have a question. I once had a case where someone, I don't know, maybe as a joke, but it threatened me through Facebook posts. It was reported, ignored
by Facebook, and there is no surprise here, but there is a button: I clicked "I'm not" and I explained that it was a case when someone threatened to drive me away with his car, because he didn't like my cycling activity. I suggested that driving people away is OK. This person was warned by Facebook that he could lose his account. So it works and there is a channel, someone reads it, at least sometimes. Okay, you managed to hack their help system. Thank you very much for this hint, because I will also answer it. In some small cinemas, for about two or three weeks now, there is a document called Internet Cleaners. Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to watch it yet. Anyway, this documentary film
about Facebook content moderators, those who use this type of ads, is mostly about people in the Philippines. How can people in the Philippines be effective in filtering Polish Facebook, for example with racist, xenophobic content, etc.? First of all, in Polish, and secondly, very characteristic for the Polish market, for Polish realities and how it looks like. I don't think it could ever be effective. I mean, I think if we are able to get help there, someone from Poland should read it. Generally speaking, my communication, the recalling, was already in English, so here, in the style of Jules, you could say, English, it worked. Okay, there was another comment.
I don't know if my colleague will be disappointed by my statement, but Facebook recently even writes about the satisfaction of users. He writes that this post was really bad, we even deleted the whole group, then it turns out that the group still exists. And these were multiple cases, so such a speech about warnings is possible that it does not bring any good results. I understand that they could also be called out for such warnings and could not use it. So, unfortunately, this communication can be hacked. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. But I suspect it's worth trying in this case. And I understand that the basic hack here is whether you are happy with the
help or not. And then it's best to use English, why not. There is a chance that someone will read it and maybe help us. But we managed to deal with it together here. using to promote yourself or your person or your career from Facebook is bad because if we fall into the moment when we need help, we are not able to receive it. Or it requires a lot of effort and thinking how to do it so that someone would read it at all, and not that it was not a machine that would do nothing with it. And this is a problem of this type of services. What such a person, whom I mentioned, can do
next? Well, he can't solve it with Facebook, but he can use the Polish law, which here protects such a user a little bit. We can report to the police, a little longer way, we can report to the prosecutor's office directly, of course we need legal help, so this is a solution that needs to be invested a little. However, what I always recommend to such people, the best is of course when they report, when the problem begins to appear, because then there is still something to do, and when it is already quite late, because we deleted, on the basis of our actions, there were deleted next profiles, few people remember to take screenshots. This is incredibly
important. Because despite the fact that nothing dies from the Internet, when we need it surprisingly much dies. Because if we took part in the removal of something and it was taken, then unfortunately we have a problem, because it is difficult to make a proof of it later. So we have to collect everything possible, all screenshots. If we have information on the profile of such a person that she was there somewhere and once spent the night in some accommodation or was at some party in some place, We have to collect such things. If we have a stalker, if we have our stalker who does us wrong, we have to spy on him a bit to report
to the prosecutor's office. So this is also a job that we just have to start doing. It's not easy, but it's a way that can bring us In one case, if the court's verdict is well resolved, in the interest of the person who harmed us, of course, and in our interest, if we document it well, we have to collect everything that can help identify the person who harms us, because it can often appear under a false name. You know, Facebook does its thing and wants everyone to use real names and surnames. Once there was even such a survey about friends, whether this friend uses a real name and surname, so you could cable someone. Now
he doesn't do it anymore. Someone can use fake data, especially on the accounts that use it. We have to collect everything we can about this person. How can we identify this person, how can we call them or call the court. Then we have to collect everything that allows us to connect posts on Facebook. It can also be private messages, it can be e-mails, it can be messages, for example, in this case, with this workplace to which you got, but unfortunately the wave of activity moved to the second field, so these messages also need to be collected, screenshots need to be made and documented and presented to the prosecutor's office in such a way that it is known that because of these posts
I no longer have a job, because of these posts I no longer have a communication channel with clients, I no longer have a way to promote my practice. I can't actually run it anymore, because I don't have any trends, I have to build everything from scratch. So I had something twisted, something that worked, and as a result of those actions I can't do it anymore. It's a pity. For my thing. Having such documentation, we can expect that the case will be resolved within one hearing, that we will receive a court verdict. And on the basis of this verdict, unfortunately, we still have to start another case. If we want to obtain compensation or if we
want to obtain a ban on communication and such things, here, unfortunately, we have to take another trial and file another case in court. So here the Polish law allows us to do a little more than it gives us the possibility to do on Facebook. And few people know that they can use it. For the first time, when I had this type of case, the legal consultation that led to it was probably the fifth or sixth. Because the opinions were very divided, because some also thought that, unfortunately, the matter looks like this, that this gentleman is hurting because he is hurting. Blues is threatening and generally blocking our activities, but it does it as a form of freedom of speech. It is basically using this freedom of speech, but
you can't stay so helpless and just let yourself be harmed. So a lawyer who had some remedy for it found a way and managed to cross this road. So it works. And that's how we can work. So it's the safety of our career, safety of our life, safety of our activities. Our communication skills are nice, because we don't have to play with setting up the whole www page. Which requires a bit. Of course, we can use Blogger. I know that Świat Naukowy still uses Google Pages. I don't know if you remember, there was such a solution once. I work in a scientific institute and Google Pages is very often used to create new pages. To be honest, I thought Google would turn it off a long time
ago, but I found out that it didn't. It's a site, so we know what it's about. We have Blogger, we have WordPress.com, we can create quite a lot of pages and this is already some kind of a half solution. The best solution is to just buy a server, put a Joomla WordPress on it, whatever it is. You can buy a domain, upload it, have your own website and run your business there. Unfortunately, because everyone is on Facebook and Google, we have to promote it. It requires activities. However, in the case where we should start paying on Facebook to see our posts, the costs are very comparable. In this case, it is more profitable to run
your own website. is Facebook and its goal is to make money, and it can only be done by collecting money from us, or by selling our data to others. However, their goal will always be to keep the user on Facebook. So whatever we do, Facebook will always go in the direction that you can have your own page, but gradually promote only there, act only there, because we will do everything so that the user from Facebook could not leave, did not want to leave. And quite often it is so that if someone clicks on an event, and the event has only a link to our page in the description, he doesn't click, he doesn't want to
leave Facebook. And here we have problems. If we have a very developed Facebook activity, it will be gradually cut off, it will be gradually more and more expensive. Our own website is quite important. And here it is about protecting our freedom of expression. If we are a blogger, it may happen to us that we write something that people do not like and it can become very dangerous for us. On our website we are able to control who and how we speak. On Facebook, no. Everyone can come and we can use the tool of help, we may succeed, we may not succeed. We may not succeed, because these are individual cases. One of the first for many years was a friend who managed to solve his problem. I
haven't heard about something so successful for a long time. This is really a success story, about which you can make a presentation, because people wanted to say that you can do something like that, and yet you can get this help from Facebook. For me, the most important recommendation when it comes to communication with customers is to remember about your own website. It's worth to spend more time on it than on Facebook. It's also worth to run Facebook, because we won't avoid it. If we want to reach customers, we have to promote ourselves where our most popular people are. The number of Facebook users is on Facebook and there are basically everyone. So if we want to ensure our business, our communication with our clients, our clients' acquisition, we should
look for the roads that are independent of the big ones. We have them so developed that if something happens, if Facebook is turned off, our fanpage is closed, And it's also very easy to put up a fanpage, because it's enough to post in the media. Public people have problems with this. It's enough to post in the media. If we have a business on Facebook, a lot of reviews and comments will be thrown in. Because you said something wrong there, you said something wrong somewhere else. And if we can still fight and delete comments, then it's very weak when it comes to reviews. To delete reviews we have to say why. The simplest way is to answer. But it does not affect the reviews in the comment. And the
users can see that this man was wrong and we explained it. But it does not affect the overall rating. Because the rating remains, it is average and such fan pages are published a little lower. It will be the same with YouTube, with Google pages where you can also review. Even if we have a place, we are a restaurant, we are a service company that needs to be visited, we have a place on the map. You can also evaluate there, people do it, there is a problem with the same as on Facebook. If we want to eliminate such a price, we need to communicate with the company, we need to justify it, we know that it is weak. So it's good to create such communication channels in
such a way that if we lose something, we still have our basic form of communication. We publish videos there, we publish our content there. It can also be about copyright, which is also problematic. A very nice presentation on this topic was last week at CopyCamp, where there are ladies in Poland who mainly represent artists. They can also represent other artists, but as it turned out, the artists have a big problem because they draw something, but then other fan pages start to publish it as their own. They will also cut this piece with a signature. So the safety of their activities, their way of running the business is also threatened by Facebook media, because there the copyright is very much washed away. Once they had
a saying that if you publish something on Facebook, it's basically Facebook and Facebook can do everything with it, transfer property rights. In the Polish version of the regulation, it was possible to change it, it lasted quite a long time and it is not satisfactory, but it protects copyright a little. There are such groups. I'm telling you this because we are people who help people with no reason. If someone is having a fight with the Internet, they want to run their business and expect some help. We can help them. Sometimes we have to do security policy in our company or we get to a small company or we have to do something. We need to establish
this communication system. As people who know a bit about security, we should be at the place to say: "Listen, let's use this or that, or let's use our www page, because it may be useful to us, it may save our asses one day". So my last recommendation is to always remember your own website, especially if you are not just a consumer. If you are a creator, this is a mandatory position. It's good to keep it there. It's also a cool form that has worked twice so far, but it's not quite popular to copy everything we publish elsewhere. It's also the same with our service. So that these content simply does not disappear. If we publish
a post, let's make a small note from it and let it be there, because if Facebook is closed, then our content is copied. We can also download pages every now and then. If we have a trusted or friendly programmer who would like to work with it, we can of course transfer the data from Facebook and put it on our page. Then we can get everything, including the comments that were. But it requires a bit of work. I don't think I've found free tools that do it. But in this way, you can also raise your game, or just do a backup of our fan page. And here again people are sitting on those who are doing
backups and those who are just starting to do backups. And that's just the way it is and we won't do anything about it. Most people don't do backups until they lose everything. So if they don't do it and they don't take it on their side, then it's already messed up, then we won't do anything. So these are my recommendations. My recommendations after research related to communication, our normal daily or official signal, you can try to implement Riot, especially if you have a small team or if you are in contact with a small team, Riot can work. And it will definitely go in the right direction, because it is visible. During my year of using Riot,
it has changed a lot. It began to be present on almost every platform. encrypted communication works, encrypted teleconferences work, mainly because they are carried out using the Jitsi widget. Jitsi is a very cool service that also takes part in other open source projects. If you have any more questions, I don't know, maybe it was a bit in the process or later, because I will be at dinner. Thank you very much for your attention. We are setting up a website www.jitsi.com, we use Signal and Jitsi and we recommend it to everyone else. Thanks.
